<p>@Zach - I put it as University of Southern California in my essay & short answers and then if it was in the same paragraph addressed it as USC. As long as you don’t call it Southern Cal(President Sample has said they are trying to move far, far away from that name), I’m sure you’re fine however you did it. I THINK it is the context, grammar, and meaning of your essay that matters more then how you put the school into it.</p>

<p>@zack504 I simply wrote USC, no need to write University of Southern California and waste everyone’s time and space. First, its an application to USC, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that they know what we are referring to, so there would be no value added by explaining it. Also, in all of the essay and short answer questions, they refer to it as USC, so it is logical to conclude that they would have no problem with us referring to it that way. If you felt strongly about it maybe I would have done “University of Southern California (USC)” on the first occurrence and then referred to it as USC throughout. What did you end up doing?</p>

<p>LangunaSC, When I first referred to it, it was as University of Southern California and then every time after that I just wrote USC. </p>

<p>I doubt it matters, it’s definitely not a deal breaker.</p>

<p>Oh yah, by the way, I got a letter from USC today, there was a really nice note in it about “thanks for applying” and “we extend to you our best wishes for a rewarding and successful academic experience”. Basically it was just having me verify my profile information, my address, major, birthday… stuff like that. Sort of random, wondering if anyone else got that. I’m a music major and my app was due on December 1st so I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it. </p>

<p>Also I can’t even get on the collegeboard site, at all. I’m scared because I haven’t finished my CSS profile yet! Does anyone know if it’s due at midnight tonight or sometime tomorrow or what, how does the deadline work???</p>
