USC 2010 Transfer Thread

nvm called them up, and they removed it :]

Would my chances be diminished if I got a C in one class?

@archieg - If this is a key course for your major then perhaps it is possible but otherwise probably not as long as you still have a strong gpa.

Kulakai, not even. Lol it’s a stupid IGETC general Ed requirement that I only took in case I don’t get into SC. It’s physical anthropology, and not major related AT ALL but sadly it’s USC transferrable. I just have to see my professor tomorrow and see what’s gonna happen…

Wish me luck guys I may be able to get that B!!

good luck archieg, i know how it feels to be under the wire even now after submitting our apps, I freak out and my heart starts pounding like crazy every time I am receiving my tests scores and exams back, hope we all can finish the year off strong!

All we can do is give out positive energy, and stay positive.

I mean, come on, what’s the worst that could happen?

Even if we don’t get into USC, we are still on this board because we are passionate about our education, which makes us better off than most.

Good luck to all, and looking at the GPA and major lists, I think it will be a stretch if anyone gets rejected!!!

HERE’S TO THE BEST SUMMER EVER!!!

archieg: I’m in the same situation. Though I’m great in Biology, Physics is killing me! I’m afraid that I won’t be able to get a “B” in it this quarter; what is more, I’ve never gotten anything less than a solid “B,” and now is not a great time to do so. Apparently, they may send out acceptances to certain students under the conditions that they obtain nothing less than a 3.5, so I’m definitely sweating a bit :(

How about this? I applied as an econ major. I got a C- in macroeconomics because I was pledging a frat and the way things went screwed me over in that class. I retook it for an A the next semester. How will this affect my chances?

@dreamingUSC - Can you still elect Pass/No Pass?

@scrsk: It isn’t ideal, but it shows that you didn’t give up on it. If you explain it in your application don’t make excuses, just own up to it.

My status changed. This is the one I’ll see for the next four months or so :).: “We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1”

In case anyone is curious, based on last year’s thread, this is the order of status updates if you are NOT getting a SGR. Everyone gets the first one, so it isn’t indicative of anything. There is a different one in between First and Second for those that get a SGR.

FIRST: We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

SECOND: Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by June 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning June 11th.

THIRD: The committee has acted on your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision. If for some reason you do not receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results this over the phone beginning June 11th

I’ve received like 7 letters from USC asking to verify that the personal info they have on me is correct. It is…so…***?

Here are the statuses for those who got SGRs:

“We are unable to process the status of your application at this time. Please try again later, or Contact Us with any questions or concerns you might have.” (these began in mid to late April, and not everyone saw this one).

“We have requested your spring term grades. We mailed you specific instructions on how to submit your grades for expedited processing. We hope to receive the grades before June 30. We expect you will be notified of our final decision by mid-July.”

"We have received the spring grades requested by the committee. We will be forwarding your file for further review very soon. For students submitting spring grades, we typically mail final decisions by mid-July. "

AMorrison: I’m opting out of taking it Pass/No Pass, as it is a requirement for medical school (so sad that I suck at it!). The class average is a 50%, whereas I have about a 75%, but he doesn’t curve. My second midterm is next week, so I’m hoping to give my grade a push in the right direction.

@ deamingusc yea I asked an admissions counselor about this during Marshall Transfer Workshop, she said that if students can possibly get the B, they want you to get the B because she specifically said that “we look at a pass/no pass as a C period”. So I advise you to keep trying harder and you will get the grade you want!

Hey guys, now USC states that they have received a “College/Univ Academic Summary”. I’m assuming these are my college transcripts?

Thank you!

No, I believe that’s the Form 6 page you downloaded and faxed/mailed in, which was the list of all the schools you’ve attended, major and math/English coursework.

Yeah that makes sense. I sent form 6 in along with my college transcripts so hopefully my college transcripts will also be quickly processed and marked as received. Thanks AMorrison.

Quick question guys, simple question:

I submitted my USC App the day before the deadline. Now what?

Do I just deliver by mail some forms? Which forms? I’m assuming Official High School & California Community College Transcripts and what else? Is this all? Then just wait for decisions in May?

@zack504 I have that too. I believe it’s the Form 6 sheet I faxed, like @Amorrison stated.

Oh, by the way, does anyone know where I can acquire a fax cover and end sheet to submit a “Special Circumstances” document? I checked the document library under my “Financial Aid & Documents” section and I can’t find it. Do they want me to mail the documents to them?

Hmm is the form 6 mandatory? I vaguely remember doing it as part of the application so I didn’t bother filling it out.
