USC 2010 Transfer Thread

KHP: we got a number of people who’ve already posted saying they’re applying to Marshall for Fall 10’. It would be cool if we could somehow setup a fb group to bounce questions off each other about Marshall and the app process.

im going to be a freshman at a CC this fall, so i do not have a GPA yet? do i still apply now if I wanted to transfer next fall?

I have 10 units done already at another CC, can I use that GPA for now?

jamesvduhh - I’m sure there will be more applicants for SPPD showing up on the thread as soon as the new academic commences.

For all those Marshall transfer hopefuls, feel free to join this facebook group:

First day of school! I’m hoping this is the beginning of the end at my current school as I look forward to USC! Gotta study, study, study if I want to make it in.

Any science majors looking to transfer into USC as well?

Can’t believe this process is already starting! I was rejected last year for my major choice of International Relations. I was also at a disadvantage of only having 27 units completed at the end of the Spring semester, which I think, caused them to look at my high school grades which weren’t great. I learned a lot the first go around so I’m hoping to be in a better place for admission this year.

In any case, I’m looking forward to navigating the admission process with you all!

is it weird that I feel pretty excited that summer is almost over?

im with you makebank. i just want to start the fall. the sooner it comes the sooner it goes and the closer i am to usc

Hi all. I’ll be joining you guys in hopes of transferring to USC. I currently attend UCR, and will apply as a junior with a gpa of roughly 3.65 to Marshall. How are the chances looking for me?

what is average GPA for Interantional Relations/ global business and would it help to be very multicultural ( speak 3languages, born and raised in a country, but family everywhere so multi-cultures , beliefs and traditions etc… )

thanks !!

I’ll be applying for Fall 2010 as a Junior from Santa Rosa Junior College.

Major: Communication
Projected USC GPA: 3.85

Fight On!

good luck everyone! it was a tough tough wait, but i want all of you to know i’m typing this at USC right now and it was worth every minute of that wait. if you guys need anything just email me at zircushio@comcast.net

i may not be able to answer on CC because i don’t go on here often, but more than likely i’ll answer your email soon

good luck to everyone and FIGHT ON! :D

I also just transferred to USC. I was admitted to the School of Policy, Planning, and Development. I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Good luck everyone. Fight on!

Guys, I was on the 09 board last semester, and we all had an interesting time waiting together in anticipation on whether or not we would get in…

I didn’t, unfortunately… after taking 19 units, a majority of which were business pre-reqs, I got 2 A’s and 3 B’s, taking my GPA down to 3.45. So I decided to just relax this summer, and the only school related things I did were for preparing for my second year of community college.

Upon looking at the various programs, I decided that SPPD is something interesting, something that I can use to benefit the greater good, especially since I really want to go to law school after undergrad.

Now, I am completing part I on the app, and… listing my My GPA is 3.45 after 40 units… I’m kind of embarrassed to list it… should I?

Also, any advice or info on SPPD admission or what the program’s like?

Thank you very much, guys. Good to be back!

Good luck this fall, we can all do it!

I don’t think it is required for you to list your GPA on part one of the application. My GPA will be much higher after this semester so I only put the required information onto the Part one application. But it’s up to you. I wouldn’t think it would hurt your overall application but I’m not positive

guys what exactly is the purpose of Part 1 application? the only benefit i can see is that we’ll save a few bucks for part 2 later…does it give us an advantage for consideration or scholarships?

lakerforever24 - the benefit of submitting the Part 1, aside from saving a few dollars is that USC is able create an ID number with your information, give you heads up on the transferring deadlines, also gives insight to some events at USC that regards to transfer information, hardcopy of the application, ID stickers, information guides sent to you, and etc. I know all of this from the last time I applied to USC which was back during my senior year of HS.

i have a question how much will it hurt your chances in transferring to marshall business school when you haven’t completed one of the prerequisite courses. i did the majority of courses such as micro, macro, financial/managerial acccounting, its just i didn’t get the calculus?

eagle,

you have to finish all the prerequisites for marshall or they will not consider your application for the business school.

hey i have a question regarding the communication major. What if you have more than 64units, can you choose only 64 or how does it work ?
