USC 2011 Transfer Thread

?question? If we applied last year and didnt get in and are applying again this year, do you guys they still have previous stuff such as the application and essays and other documents?

This is potentially a poor question, but I’m filling out the Part II application right now and am in the process of adding my CC to the list of colleges attended. Am I right in assuming that “transfer” should be written in for “reason for leaving?”

Where are you Marshall applicants seeing the application link?? It didn’t work for my PC or Mac  would really appreciate any help.

im applying! history major with a ~3.7 gpa by the end of this fall hopefulllyyy!!

hey guys!! i just wanted to post on here, because i know how much this site helped me during my transfer process. I transferred in this fall, and i love it. There is nothing like being a Trojan. If you guys have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!! my name is josh selbe and you can find me on facebook  good luck and fight on!!

@zonazoo10
congrats for getting into usc! what was your gpa? did you participate in any clubs and community service groups? and how many units did you complete? did you apply from a cc or another university?

how is classes at usc compared your previous college? Since you transferred did that affect like your social life, making friends and stuff?

Hello potential 2011 transfers! The USC transfer thread is traditionally the BEST on College Confidential - the longest, most informative, and ALWAYS on page one!

I wanted to let you know about the **Financial Aid deadlines **for transfers - they are EXACTLY the same as for freshmen, so don’t put it off. Have your CSS/Profile and FAFSA submitted by February 2nd (yes, ONE day after your application is due!) and your parent and student tax return copies should be in by mid-March or as soon as possible thereafter. (If at all possible, make THIS the year you and your parents file taxes early.)

USC provides the same financial aid to transfer students as to freshman (one of the few universities that do), and guarantees to meet 100% of USC-determined need* for all accepted students who submit all financial aid applications and supporting materials by the deadlines.

*USC-determined need is calculated using the CSS/Profile, which considers assets the FAFSA does not (such as home equity and assets protected by the simplified needs test), so the amount you are expected to contribute will differ from your FAFSA EFC. The FAFSA EFC will ONLY be used to distribute Federal aid such as Pell Grants and Stafford loans.

Good luck!

if i want to have 30 units to be able to transfer in sophomore year… do i have to have them finished by the time after i apply? or can they see that ill be able to finish it by the i enter usc

also, what are the class requirements to be able to transfer after one year?

thanks alememom! financial aid is such an important factor so it’s nice that there is a thread about it.

My transfer GPA was a 3.82. I transferred in 32 units from the University of Arizona. Throughout high school I was a three sport athlete and involved in ASB as well. At the U of A, I was involved in a community service organization, but that was about it. The classes at USC are not very different than they were at Arizona. Two differences I notice, however, is that the professors are more dynamic and it is simply a more competitive/high-quality population of students (as can be expected).

On the friends thing: It was a bit intimidating at first. Everyone seemed to know each other. I noticed that I was a bit shy at first, but after only two weeks of school so far, I have met a lot of great people. I am also looking to pledge a fraternity, which can obviously be very helpful too.

It truly is a special place, and I am sure you all deserve to be here.

If you guys have any other questions, let me know.

Fight On!!

best of luck to all of you!!!

fight on!!!
ive loved every minute of being at USC. seriously.

Good luck to all of you!!!

@Dainese I feel the same way too. USC is really what I expected it to be! I’m so glad I had the opportunity to become a Trojan

Fight on!!

yes! finally ive been waiting for this thread. heh seemed like the previous threads started a bit earlier.

Is it possible for us to apply to two schools? For example marshall and clas?

@PikachuTrojan yes yo can apply to two schools. On your application, you designate you first and second choice major.

Posting so I can say I officially followed and posted in the USC transfer thread 2009, 2010, and 2011 lol.

Is anyone else applying to transfer to USC’s OT BA/MS program? I have not met one single person who has even considered it. Even the OT information session I went to had only masters students applying.

what’s the lowest gpa you’ve heard of USC accepting?

i heard on here someone transferred with a 2.8 college gpa or something and was accepted

Trying to transfer in one year from CC.

Will only have 24 (perhaps 27 if I do winter session) done before application are due; will have 42/45 units before summer. Hopefully will have a 4.0 (currently have 4.0 with 7 units completed). 2.7 gpa in HS, 2170 SAT, 20 AP Credits.

Worth a shot? Will I hopefully see a spring grade request instead of an outright rejection?

Has anyone else noticed that the essay prompts are the exact same as last years? Are they going to change that any time soon or is it really going to be the same topics?
