USC 2011 Transfer Thread

and a diversity class, such as sociology, or women studies…

i see. thank you!

im transferring from a 4 year university, im in the midst of my first semester.

Pepperdine only has an articulation history with USC so i am really confused as to what classes i have to take next semester. i wish to transfer to Marshall.

1) It states on Marshall that Accounting 1 & 2 is “Strongly encouraged” to have to apply to Marshall. But on the articulation history, it states “No course equivalents available”. So do i take accounting 1 during my Spring '11 semester in Pepperdine?

2)Marshall “strongly encourages” to have account 1 & 2 and GE 1,2,3,5. I cant possibly take all these as i only have the Spring '11 semester before i hopefully transfer in Fall '11. I will only be able to take accounting 1, GE1,5 and diversity req. Will i be put at a disadvantage compared to other applicants who have fulfilled all the “strongly encouraged” GEs and accounting?

3) Also, in pepperdine, im taking my first year seminar class. Im wondering if units from that can be transferred to USC. Or will it not be considered?

I will be applying to USC for Fall 2011. I’m not sure what major yet, most likely something in CLAS. I’m currently attending UCI, and I have one W on my transcript. I’m really worried about it, but I do have a reason why I got that W. I was dealing with some medical problems and had to go back home to see a doctor. Do you guys know anyone thats been accepted with a W on their transcript? Anything information will help! Thanks!

I would like to know if the following would increase my chances of transferring into Viterbi as a CS major. I know that it is recommended that I have completed Calc II prior to transferring to be a competitive applicant. By the end of the Spring semester I will have completed PreCalc and three semesters of programming classes. I am planning on taking Calc I during the summer. Is it possible to let them know which classes I will be taking during the summer ? Would they take those classes into consideration?

Hey guys, what classes are you guys taking for spring 2011?

I need some suggestions, so far i have signed up for 15 credits, i need one more class.

So far i have

Business Calc.
2.Eng 102

Macro

Intro in sociology

Anthropology
6.???

hey guys i had quick question, if we are applying to usc as a business major and decide to take math as a pass/no pass at our current college will that look bad on our transcript?

also if we applied as an undeclared then how would that look on my transcript?

would anybody have a link for usc policies toward no pass/pass classes?

@funnypunjabi

Generally, courses such as Math and English are always supposed to be taken for a letter grade. In your case you can take the course for a Pass/No Pass grade but it would not be beneficial. If you can take the course for a letter grade then do so. You have to remember you’ll be competing with other applicants who not only took the required math courses for a letter grade but additionally went on to higher math courses.

You’re also applying to Marshall. I could see if your major had little use for math, but you will be expected to handle math with facility. They’ll want to see the letter grade.

You seem like you give good advice. I am going to have a W on my transcript. Do you think that will affect my chances?

I have a good reason why I got that W. I going to retake the class and aim for an A

Hi, i was wondering what my chances are for acceptance as a sophomore to USC?
…and if my chances are high, than what are my chances of receiving any scholarship money?

Hey everyone! This is my first post and I am looking to transfer to USC in fall 2011 as a junior. I would really appreciate some feedback on my stats and what my chances are.

Stats:

I sadly, have 1 W from my first semester.

I answered your question on your other thread.

@Shunter47
You can find scholarship information at the link below:
[USC Financial Aid](http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/grants_scholarships/undergraduates/meritbasedft.html)
Nearly all of them do not require any extra information. You’re automatically considered when you apply. I do believe there are deadlines so make sure to note those.

@everyone asking to chance them
No one is qualified to answer those questions. By now you should all know nothing is guaranteed when it comes to college admissions. There are so many variables, besides scores and GPAs that it is hard to give such a percentage. Even with ECs, it’ll be difficult to compare them to other applicants. Unless you’ve personally been inside a room when a decision was being made about an applicant, you cannot give a proper chance me.

Thank you MitchAPalooza for your help!

Is anyone applying for English or Anthropology in this thread?

@Mike - what mitch said is correct, but you can compare your stats with previous transfer years if you feel the need for some sort of chancing…

good luck everyone! go CLAS majors haha!

fight on!

@Pikachu

I will be taking statistics, a western civilization course, film history, a science course on addictions, an analysis of LGBT societal issues, and an internship. =)

I just hope I can maintain my GPA with that course load.
