@arrogant - i think you have a shot. i would definitely apply. just be sure to explain soemwhere why you have a 2.7 in HS and how you have an upward trend now.

@belief- i think the lowest ive seen was a 2.4 GPA. but this was someone with a reason why. i think there was a 1 year leave or something and came back with straight A’s but had F’s the year before.

After my freshman year at a private university in California, I completed 27 units with GPA of 3.4. I am not entering my sophomore year at the same institution and I am wondering if I have a shot at USC if my GPA gets to round 3.8 or above? I am involved with volunteer opportunities, and internship, and taking 18 units his semester. I graduated from a private high school in 2009. Im still deciding on my major, but am leaning towards communications. My mother also graduated from USC in the 80’s. Last year when I applied I got a Spring Grade Request. Let me know what you guys think! thanks

@lostcollegebound - Marshall is harder to get into so put Marshall as your first choice, you can always double major in econ easily if you want to.

I’m at De Anza College and I have a 3.43 but I’m intending on getting a 4.0 this fall quarter. What are my chances of getting accepted as a transfer? I’ve completed over 45 quarter (30 semester) units. I’m also intending on being a student-athlete swimmer at USC.

for those who transferred to usc from a college that ran on a quarter system how many units did you guys average per quarter?

for those who into marshall what core classes did you take? i know this year they have two requirements the math calculus and the english one, but they also recommend business core classes, does that include stuff like intro to stats?

Articulation agreements articulate what courses are equivalent to their school. Since I go to Cal State Northridge, I look up some pre req classes that transfer to USC as credit on the Articulation Agreement between these schools. I will be here regularly throughout my freshman year because I do plan on transferring to USC next fall (mom works at USC = TUITION WAIVER =)) GOOD LUCK EVERYONE and keep me updated, we can definitely benefit through CC.

This is totally off topic, but does USC give tuition waivers to students who parent works in any part of USC, like if my mom is an RN in the hospital?

@snowboard - i dont think anyone will know a definite reliable answer to that one unless they work at USC or something…id ask. but i think your mom would know if she would be getting free tuition at usc lol. worth a shot to ask!

if it is any part of USC…imma tell my dad to go be a janitor asap. LOL jk

@tommyt - its possible, but depends on a lot more than just your GPA.
if you are an athlete they may want you if you are good.
it depends on your major, amount of GE’s done, amount of pre-reqs done
amount of EC’s, and your essay.

@snowboard - yes I am almost certain that you will get tuition waver because my relative is in the same exact situation. Her mom is a nurse at the hospital

I have a 3.4 GPA at my community college (including remedial math classes). I have a 3.6 in UC transferrable courses. What would USC look at – my cumulative CCC gpa or whatever transfer?

Hey everyone,
I am in my second year of CC in Texas. I want to transfer to a Film School. So far I am thinking USC, UCLA, or UT Austin.
my GPA is 4.0
33 credits so far not including this semester, will be 45 by end of this semester.
Member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Student Mentor.
And I have a music video that recently played world wide and I was interviewed about it on CNN International.
I also have an internship with a local production company.

Can you guys give me advice not only just my chances, but any advice on making my application look good?
Anything would help
thanks,
Ali

I will be applying to Marshall this year, I currently have a 3.73 GPA. After this semester, I will have a 3.84. My question is, should I just not do Part 1 to avoid putting my current GPA. That way I apply with a stronger GPA?
