USC 2011 Transfer Thread

@tantungnam:

Hey, I don’t see the board “Admission Documents” anywhere. Can you tell me exactly where it’s located when I log into USConnect?

Hey guys I was wondering how hard it is to transfer into Marshall if i changed my mind and wanted to do business after being accepted to USC as a clas/undeclared major in my sophomore year. (currently first year in a cc)

@Rambo

Log on. Click the Admissions tab and it should appear. Below is a screen shot.

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/1669/admissionsdoc.png

@bingbingbop - I think you would have to apply for Marshall once you are at USC undeclared… they would want to see your grades.

@tantungnam - I would say since you’re coming from a UC they would probably understand that courses at a UC level is harder than the CC level. Then again, you want to make sure you get at least a 3.7 winter and spring quarter. A upward trend is really important. You are also applying for Marshall, which along with SCA, is really competitive. I am also applying from UC Irvine.

@sydneyral- Same here, I am really happy that USC has a good transfer acceptance rate. I mean after I got my rejection letter senior year, they said they had about 30,000 applicants. I think they have 10,000 transfer applicants each year which is much better than the 30,000. I’m so anxious everyone!!!

@rambo: when you log into USConnect, there will be 4 boards.

The upper one on the left is Undergrad application, next to it is Admission Documents, right below Undergrad application should be USConnect profile, while the one next to its is Follow us on Twitter

@ callofduty: i know…i just had lots of problems w/ my college life so i screwed up badly at first, when i got all As at the end of quarter, it was too late to change anything…now i just bet everything on my essay and my international student status…

I’m anxious too! I just want it to be May already. I am confident. Very confident. I want my package!

@tantungnam - So are you a freshman at UCSB? How is SB by the way? Do you like it? what do you mean when you got all A’s at the end of the quarter? Are you saying all your A’s dropped to B’s?

@sydneyral- are you a sophomore or junior transfer? I’m feeling OK on my application. My essays and ECs are good so far, just I’m a little below 30 units :confused: so I am hoping a Spring Admission at least… I am going to apply for Psychology and Anthropology :D

@MitchAPalooza:
Thanks for the screenshot, but for some reason my screen is looking different.

@Tantungnam & MitchAPalooza:

I’m getting 3 boards saying: START HERE-Complete USConnect Profie, Follow on Twitter, and Undergrad Application. And I have finished the USConnect Profile btw. Idk why my screen is different. I didn’t do part 1 of the app if it helps.

@MitchAPalooza-

I have the Admission Documents on my board. MY USC ID number is there, but I think thats my number for last year when I applied as a senior in HS. Would my USC ID number be the same this year?

Your USC ID will be the same since it is linked with your social security number. It’s a way of maintaining a paper trail. Your USC ID number is also your student ID number.

Rambo: All updates to your USConnect are done manually by admission counsellors; Considering the time of year we’re in, I don’t think you’ll see any changes/updates to your USConnect until January. They don’t go in any specific order or priority, some people are just lucky to have their app sitting on top of the pile.

This short promotional video brings a bigger smile to my face every time i watch it. Some of you may or may not have seen it already:
[YouTube - USC: The Spirit of Transformation](<a href=“USC: The Spirit of Transformation - YouTube”>USC: The Spirit of Transformation - YouTube)

I think it helps to view it every once in a while when we start to lose sight of “the” goal.

@CallofDuty84: I’m a junior transfer and after this winter intersession I will have exactly 30 transferable units. I’m going to send an updated transcript when I get my winter grade. They’ll know how serious I am. Other than my grades (damn B nearly caused me to have a nervous breakdown) I feel my EC’s, supplemental materials and essay is/are in good shape. I’m worried about my short answers, because I didn’t think them through and sound way, way too generic. For the “why do you want to transfer” answer I explained how I didn’t care in HS and promised myself on graduation day that I wouldn’t settle for anything but the best anymore. How lame.

AND TO EVERYONE WORRIED ABOUT STUFF NOT BEING RECEIVED IN THE DOCUMENT UPLOADER: Every time I called USC and spoke with an admissions councilor, my documents were updated and they were able to see things I submitted even when they did not appear as “submitted”. I’m not saying you should call them so documents can go through, but don’t lose hope. As long as you get a receipt you’re good to go.

That’s weird. I wouldn’t worry about it though. It still is pretty early as someone above mentioned. You can also call and receive your ID number.

Yes. I still have the same number from when I applied last year. The documents I submitted are still there too (HS transcript, SAT scores).

And just to reiterate Budlightyear. Here is another video. I like this one because it’s student made so you kind of receive an “inside” look. Whole video is good but best part starts at 11:06.

@MitchAPalooza-

Yeah, my SAT scores are there too, so I Don’t need to re-send my SAT Scores? I’ll need to send my HS Transcript because they want to see the graduation date.

I am starting to pack now. I am heading off to L.A. sometime tomorrow. Classes begin in a couple of weeks. I’m starting to feel it now. OK, off to go pack.

@CallofDuty84

I’m not sure. I would email/call to be sure. Logically, the scores and everything would still be there but they might throw/delete any information after a year or so.

I will be done with 36 transferable nits by Spring, do I still have to send in my sat scores? I really, really, really don’t want to.

Yeah, you still have to. I recently emailed my regional transfer admissions officer and she said one who would not have 30 credit units by February would need to send them in, but she kind of made it sound like if you have more than 30 units done by the end of spring semester they won’t really consider the sat score. I’m guessing it’s a back-up cushion just incase you don’t pass that 30 credit unit mark.

I was told by my regional officer that I would not need to send in SAT scores if I was going to have 30 units by spring, and not to bother taking the SAT during spring to send in.
