Im hesitant to fill out the GPA part of my application because I got a 3.4 =(. It has bummed me out all winter break! Do you guys think im done? CLAS

I just submitted my application and sent all of the required documents. Now just wait until June and hope for miracle to happen

@ dreamupsidedown: it’s been a while since i last saw you here

@agestyxracer: dont worry. Just do it, there’s no harm. I was regret not apply to USC, UCLA, UCSD because i wasnt confident. Back then i thought i would never get in any of UCs but i was accepted to all UCs that i applied.

3.4 w/ a decent essay can still give you a ticket to USC. Im applying w/ a 3.0 <im in=“” much=“” worse=“” situation=“” than=“” you=“” are=“” right=“” now=“” ^^=“”></im>

@tantungnam - If you get rejected, I thought it decreases your chances next time you apply? And besides, I had a really good chance at getting a 3.8 but missing a few days of class caused me to get a B+ instead of an A-. I also slacked in one of the weirdest classes Ive ever been in. The Professor made it SEEM like he was going to give you an A by giving you 100% on “missing” quizzes most of the time and by saying that If you get an A in the final you get an A in the class. I ended getting up a C+. That class ruined me. I have been contacting him and hopefully he understands my situation.

I dont think being rejected would lower your chance of getting in the next time you apply 'cause if you had a decent grade for this year, it shows that you have some progess. Note that i havent taken any core class yet <im taking=“” econ=“” and=“” pstat=“” now=“” but=“” those=“” wouldnt=“” be=“” taken=“” into=“” consideration=“” because=“” by=“” the=“” time=“” i=“” receive=“” my=“” transcript,=“” it’s=“” already=“” april,=“” think=“”></im>

It’s no harm to try and i still have another chance, i just hope that those who are applying as junior transfer would get it. This is their last chance. Even if im not gonna be accepted in next year, i can still stay at my current college, so i am not under pressure.

Btw, i think you should try and make your essay as best as you can, i remembered going through the USC decision thread last year and someone w/ a 3.4 GPA got accepted but he said he had a really good essay thou

Hey guys!

I’m applying for Film Production, and was wondering about the letters of recommendation. I was wondering what my best option would be for my third letter, one that would give me a very good shot at acceptance and help to really show USC I am a well-rounded, completely creative person. This is especially important to me because my GPA is only 3.46.

I’m getting one letter from my 2nd grade teacher who had always commented on my writing skills and had written in a journal way back then that she “looked forward to my first book”, and recently told me after I asked her to write me a letter that I had been the best writer she had seen in her 14 years of teaching up to that point.

My other letter is from a Film teacher I had at my community college who already wrote her letter; in it she says very good things about me being a good writer (she read a script of mine) and how I’m a great student that would be a great fit for the film program.

For the third letter, I’m conflicted. I’m trying to decide if I should get a letter from my old guitar teacher, who I know would write an amazing letter about my music skills, and dedication to music, but am unsure if USC would care to hear this since it doesn’t relate to why I would be a good fit for their film school. My other option is to get a letter from another Film teacher I had, she enjoyed very much a film I directed and edited for a class assignment, and I got an A in her class. She saw alot of my essay writing as well, though I do not know how strongly she felt about it. I’m thinking the guitar teacher letter could show another dimension to my creativity and dedication, but another Film-related letter could help too; I don’t know if it would be too similar to my other Film teacher’s letter, though.

What would be the better option?

I am a Marshall Biz Admin. transfer applicant from a CCC. I wanted to know if spring semester grades and overall GPA are equated into admission decisions. I get out in May and know that they usually send letters out by June 1st. So is there a way to report my spring grades and new overall GPA before a decision is made to help my chances of getting in or is the only way for them to take into account my new GPA and grades to get a SGR?

@agestyxracer wait I’m kind of confused…your situation was how you were confused about his grading rubric that ruined your gpa?

MikeAM:

If a final decision is not made for you by June 1, they will ask for the SGR. Regardless, you WILL hear from them by June 1. To answer your question: sending in your spring grades prior to them asking for it will not help if they did not request it; however, it won’t ruin your chances either (go with your gut on this one, no one knows). If for some reason you do get an SGR, then they’ll wait for your final official transcript(s) (they also know that different schools end on different dates; therefore, they know most transcripts will be late) They do not take into account your overall GPA; They are only concerned with what your GPA is on transferrable courses.

Ah, it’s almost here! LOL im so nervous. I haven’t finished my essay yet, currently working on it.

I think I got myself into a bit of a pickle.

I go to an oos cc, and i registered for business calculus, which is called ‘elementary calculus’ at my school (same thing). However, Im starting to think that USC will not accept business calc or that the class will not transfer. So i tried to register for calc I but all of the classes are full.
what do I do?

hey can anyone read my essay and suggest any editing

Also, i’ve attended 4 High school but i only completed coursework in two. Do I just send the transcripts of those two? of all 4? or just where i got my diploma? thanks

helloo people, im new to this thread. My friend told me about this place :).

I was wondering are there any majors at USC that don’t require CALCULUS as prereq for getting into the school as a transfer?

I am terrible at math and I want nothing to do with calculus ;(. Ive already taken it in high school and passed with a C.

@jaajaa20 - Long story short, I slacked big time lol

O yes, I forgot to mention, I was pledging a fraternity as well so im guessing this semester will have probably been the hardest semester of my life.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to include in my application how dedicated I was to greek life, to show a little leeway to my subpar GPA and involvement in campus activities?

@reelfilm: personally, I would cut the 2nd grade teacher entirely and go with both your guitar teacher and your film teacher. I once heard that recs from high school are considered weak on transfer applications but I could be wrong…

@PikachuTrojan: CRASH CRASH CRASH that class. Stay until the final drop date. Don’t. Lose. Hope. I’ve been in situations like this and my CC is at 101% capacity.

@HEKTOR007: PM me your essay, I’ll be happy to read it. And you will probably need to send in both transcripts…I think.

@johnvuuu: I’ve only heard that you need to complete Algebra 2 to get into USC as a transfer, but then again I am going into a major that is lax with higher math requirements. In case you are wondering, I’m doing screenwriting. The deadline to apply was Dec 1. :X

@agestyxracer: I’m not sure how that would fly…really I’m not. Unless you belonged to a house known for a lot of philanthropy…then I assume what you think they will assume otherwise if you say you were devoted to greek life.

Does anyone know how an AP score of 4 for Calculus AB would affect the admission decision for Business Administration?

Mike, I don’t think it would affect anything at all. SC is really picky about AP credit, and a 4 in Cal is only going to give you 4 units of elective credit. In the long run, I don’t think it would hurt or really help you.

Does anyone know when we have to have the high school transcripts sent out by? Do we have our high school to send it after we’re done with our online applications?

@uscmarshall2010 have your HS & college send transcripts and your online application by the same deadline which is feb 1st and the fafsa and css profile are due the next day, feb 2nd.

Hey there, NOT trying to be a pest, and I know I can find this online somehow, but was just wondering if someone can break it down for me into simple terms:

how will our transcripts be sent in? just upload them onto the same account that we type our essay, on the USC site?

how will letters of rec be attached to that and sent in?

are extracurriculars to be typed out, like a list? or will there be an opportunity to attach special media files (such as pictures, to prove it (?) )

if anyone could just briefly state that, it would be greatly appreciated

thanks so much

I would also like to know about how to send transcripts…I mean like do we need to fill out our application online first…and Then send our transcripts or what? If it takes time for your college/hs to send the transcripts(like say 2 weeks) would we need to do it NOW to make sure it arrives on feb 1.?
I would be REALLY thankful for that info please?

Thank you Sydneyral!

Do you guys know what the prerequisites are for getting into USC as a sociology major or an economics major?

I looked all over the site it didnt state any specific classes to take, unlike the USC school of marshall.

Thank you!
