USC 2011 Transfer Thread

@callofduty i know it’s so weird! but like…i got an email confirming they got my application…so i dunno what’s going on there

@Snowboard
Thank you so much for answering that!
@Naina
You have bruce too as your counselor!

kmart153- Technical difficulties? Haha

@sydneyra i PMd you my essay! Thanks!!

anyone wanna swap essays? :/

I’ve tried contacting Bruce but he hasn’t emailed me back. Whats his email…maybe I got it wrong.

PS, about the technical difficulties, I was reading in the USC board here that USC is very flexible about apps that were submitted late because of the site crashing (happened a lot to the freshman whose apps were due on Monday). So don’t sweat it!

do you guys think being in the honors program at my cc will help? I have a 3.48 with honors… applying as SPPD… I’m freaking out!!!

i saw from usc transfers 2010 that a girl got in with a 3.3 but she finished her “prereqs”. I called my admission counselor and she said the macro/micro econ are only recommended courses… and that it doesn’t hold against me when considering me… but then I went to the website and it said those courses are pre-major courses… SO What does that mean???

sigh… so freaked out.

H0n3y - Those courses that are required for your major are to make you “more competitive” in the applicant pool. The only courses that you need to complete are Intermediate Alg. and English. To make yourself more competitive, do your major requirements and GE’s along with Diversity.

I am applying to Marshall for Business Administration. It seems that many transfer applicants receive spring grade requests. Does anyone know what Admissions looks for in these requests? The ability to maintain the GPA, or is it to increase GPA?

I currently have a 4.0 with 53 units at CSULB. During the spring semester I will be taking a total of 21 units. Five of these seven classes are upper-division courses. One class during the spring semester fulfills the Arts and Letters requirement. Other than that, I have already completed the writing and general education requirements, pre-requisites, and recommended accounting courses. I will definitely try to achieve another 4.0, but what would be the likely result if I were to get one or two Bs?

Hey guys so i just submitted my application yesterday!!! :slight_smile: Good luck to everyone else. I have a few questions though. I recently sent in my high school transcript by writing in my USC id and having them send it through the mail. Does it all have to be faxed in or electronic including letters of recommendation? I am so confused because I was sending everything through the mail except I sent my college transcript through electronic.

There can be numerous reasons for receiving a SGR. The most reasonable one is the applicant has not completed all the prerequisites. For example, someone is taking Accounting and Calculus in the spring. USC will send out a SGR to see if you are indeed taking the planned courses and how you’re faring in them.

Of course, it is not to say you won’t receive one if you finished all the prerequisites. The SGR can serve as a “check up.” It might also mean “We’re interested, but we want to see more.” Who knows. This is all speculation but the majority of applicants probably receive one because of unfinished prerequisites.

Just got a financial aid postcard reminder in the mail today…just when I thought this application process was over

thanks CallofDuty…

I think I will take my micro and macro econ next quarter and hope I get in !!! How come it seems like not many people apply to SPPD?

did any of you get admitted to usc marshall with only one semester of college writing? the requirement says you must have two semesters of english composition or writing.

Question: If I haven’t taken a math course at all but will in the spring that would satisfy the requirement am I doomed to get a sgr? I have a decent gpa 3.75 @24 units.

To all the people wondering about the SGR, I got one because of taking Calc I in the spring even though I had a 3.89 with around 90 credits completed already. They generally send them if you are in the process of completing a prereq for transfer to make sure you passed the class with a decent grade or if you’ve taken a fewer amount of credits and they want to make sure you maintain a similar gpa level.

Does anyone know where we have to send the high-school+college transcript to for USC

Marshall? Does anyone know the precise address? And can someone please answer my

previous question about taking 2 semesters of Eng Comp, is it that necessary? Please

answer.
