USC 2011 Transfer Thread

Hey does anyone know if there are any threads like this one that are specifically for SCA transfer applicants? Also does anyone know how the supplemental app works for Film Production applicants? Does SCA decide if you get in or not before USC looks over your general app (since SCA applicants sometimes have low GPAs for USC’s standards)?

@reelfilm: I haven’t found a SCA transfer applicant thread anywhere around here

I don’t know how the supplemental application works for production majors, but I know that for writing I just had to submit extra things in the document uploader.

As far as if the SCA decides if you get in before USC…that’s a good question and I am waiting for a response to this question from the SCA. I was just recently informed that transfers are evaluated with freshmen, so I would like to think so.

Oh my goodness my application was incorrectly submitted. I don’t know what happened. All my information was incomplete. I don’t know what to do now :(((((( I think I have to withdraw my application. I am heartbroken.

Do they actually look to see if you’ve visited the campus? I signed in during a tour and wonder, will they even see this when looking at my application???

hey so I saw that USC doesn’t do transfer interviews…which puzzles me, but I am traveling down to Los Angeles in two weeks and I thought I’d stop in and take a tour and see if I can talk to someone. What person should I talk to, and would they even talk to me? I would assume an admissions counselor right?

@monzay, what do you mean by incomplete? Call the admissions office asap in the morning. I heard they’re very good with technical difficulties.

I had to take some of my prerequisites in other community colleges because of the major budget cuts in the CCC system. What do you guys think about writing this in the optional section?

@chapman
well 12-14 sentences = two well written paragraphs. I am transferring from UC Irvine.
and Monzaay… what the hell happened?

hey CallofDuty, so do you think I should just leave my long essay as is? I asked a journalism student who graduated 2 years ago and she thinks that if your essay is well written and isn’t too short in length than it should be fine. She said being concise is more important that being too wordy. You don’t want people to read the essay and think your blabbing on right? I just saw also that if you put your cursor over the essay instructions on the application it specifically says, we are not overly concerned with length.

Some parts of my screen were missing and I incorrectly clicked things I wasn’t supposed to! I hope they can help me out because I would just be devastated!

chapman- If you think your essay got to the point, then yes. if you think there are things that are unnecessary, then just take it out.
Yeah i saw that too. Just do what you feel is best
Monz- They will help you.

Everyone, get your apps submitted at least a day before the deadline. You don’t want technical difficulties.

Hey guys,

Quick question. I am getting a letter of recommendation from a teacher. I am pretty sure we put the address as the admissions office address…but how do they know which letter belongs to which student. I am applying to the school of Policy, planning, and development, and can not find any letter service. Does anyone know how they know which letter is for which student?? What if two people have the same name…how do they know which student it was meant for?

Thanks guys!

Also…are you supposed to have the instructor send the LOR after the application or does it not matter?

@jaajaa" my college gpa was 3.74 yesterday
today it is 3.62 bc a C on my grade in winter class.
@anandrenga2001: your USC ID and your birthday are two ways to track it
However, I sent my college transcript when it was 3.74 =))

How come my received list is very misleading

wait do you mean i can track it using my usc id? i’m wondering how the school even matches letters of recs with applicants? also, how do i get my usc id, im so confused

quick questions: For the high school transcripts, who sends them? me or my high school?? same with the school i’m transferring from who mails them in?

For letters of recommendation, do i upload it through the admissions documents thing or do i mail it in with any of my transcripts? Also, do we HAVE to send in anything that is on the list under the admissions documents box?

Since I was completely ignored on my last post:

Haha, how come it seems like everyone on this site is a business major? It’s all “Marshall” this and “Marshall” that. What about the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences?! =(

Well, ok, I feel the need to share my story. So, I’m kind of an idiot and am in a slump. I’m in a pretty bad personal depression right now and I need some hope. I have a 3.688 GPA at Clarkson University (Upstate New York) and am a physics major. I’m taking enough math courses that if I were to stay here (I’m hoping to leave though) that I’d get a minor in math as well. How much does that increase my chances? Also, I’m pretty sure I completed all of the “required” (or are they just recommended?) courses for physics majors and am currently taking two more physics courses (Quantum and Solid State). Does that at all increase anything?

Also, how much of an idiot am I for waiting until today to contact my High School AND college about sending transcripts? I honestly have no clue how long it takes them to send them out (my high school was pretty small so it shouldn’t be that hard to find them and I mean if they fax it it should get to USC almost instantly, right?). But yea…with this depression I’m in I’ve kind of screwed myself over with all of this transferring stuff.

Oh, and I don’t have any required recommendations right? I mean, I’m getting one from my Quantum/Modern Physics prof, but it’s not absolutely needed, just recommended, right?

Does anyone know anything about the transfer scholarships for the Marshall Business School? I am hoping to transfer with a 3.79 GPA, I have completed Financial/Managerial Accounting, Micro/Macroeconomics and Business Calculus I and II. I have a good amount of extracurriculars/volunteer work. I have completed 63 credit hours total (so I’m not sending SAT scores) and have written decent essays. Do you think I have any chance at a getting in or getting a scholarship? Any info would be great.

@coolio2244242:

Don’t worry about it. I just asked my University and High School to mail out the transcripts today too. My University said that it would be processed and out withing 3-4 days, and my High School said 1-2 days. I’m just hoping that both get out before February 1st.

As long as you contact them and ask them to mail them out either today or tomorrow, I think you should be good.

I just wanted to repost my ?s

Thanks for letting me know! Please post on here when you hear back from SCA, I have the same questions you have, and it would be great to have some answers.
