USC 2011 Transfer Thread

My status must have changed sometime between Tuesday and now:

We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

I’m scared ****less.

WOW PANTHER! That’s great!!!

From what I was reading in the threads last year (I could be wrong) is that if your status changes quickly from “we’re reviewing your app…” to “we have made a decision” thats a good thing…

However, maybe some of the people who have been on these forums can chime in, I’m not 100% how it works…

BTW, did you ever call them back to figure out if they were looking at the right application year? I remember in a previous post that you said there may have been a mix up?

Either way…GOODLUCK!!!

@ MDG099

Thanks! I don’t know your story, but best wishes to you as well!
Yeah, I called them back… they weren’t. -_- Actually, the last counselor I spoke with said that my 2011-2012 application file WAS requesting an SGR, but that it was requesting to see my spring grades from Spring '10. She told me that they never received an official SG transcript for that year (sent in an unofficial), updated it, and said she would take care of the error. Whatevs.
This new status worries me for the exact reason you said- there’s no way there can be a quick turnaround if they start reviewing this early. :(

Anyways, I will most definitely try and keep my hopes up- thanks for your encouragement. :)

@Panther

You never know, from what I have read in the USC 2010 Transfer thread, the admission process is somewhat of hit or miss…They accept students with barely a 3.0 and a few EC’s to students with 4.0 honors, purple heart awards, who came out the womb as valedictorian…
I wish you the best of luck though.:-)

But danggit! I wish this process wasn’t so long…

Panther, I could almost feel your nervousness… and most certainly I’ll be even more nervous when my status changes to that… well, mine still says “We have received your application, and it appears we need more information” so I still have a way to go…

Anyway, good luck to you, sending best wishes!!! :)

How can you apply to usc housing before getting accepted? I saw a video that tells the step of applying for housing and it tells us to register-in order to register we must have been admitted into usc first? LOL weird. And i also tried to register it wouldnt let me…poop. Probably going to be stuck with sucky housing bc im a sophomore transfer :(

My status says nothing about transfer students…only says that they try to get decisions out to freshman by april.

panther, what was your status before that one?

@whisper11- Thanks! Whisper would be an awesome name for a child.

@snowboard129- I don’t remember my status verbatim, but it was the one that said they’d received my application and needed additional information. Go figure.

@panther: WOW! I am so jealous! I’ve been staring at my status non-stop since it changed to “We have received your application and it appears we require no additional information…”

lol @sydneyral no need to be.

I looked over last year’s transfer thread and a status update this early appears to be insignificant. :frowning: Only two people got one around this time and neither of them got another until mid-April.

@Panther

I would call them tomorrow and see what’s up…Or maybe even call your admissions counselor and tell them what happened. Maybe there is a mistake in this years and last years application…If not, you never know, it could be a good thing.

Oh I have a question…

I’m going to take a tour of USC this week, but should I email my admissions counselor and let them know?

This may sound weird, but should I stop by and introduce myself to them? Maybe put a face to my application? Or would that be a bit weird???

^^ admissions counselors aren’t allowed to meet face to face with prospective transfers.

Statuses should update mid April! Let’s hope for the best everyone!

I have to take the Eng Requirement Next Quarter… so I think for sure I am getting a SGR.

Do the SGR come in the mail or do we get an email? How does it work?

James- I know mine, he’s a pretty nice guy actually. We met last June.

sigh I’m so tired of harrassing those guys, but I’ll definitely call them tomorrow.

@CallofDuty84- My SGR came in the mail. But, before it even came, I called the office and they just told me. Of course, I called around the end of May.

Panther you applied last year? What major? why do you think you got rejected?

callofduty - are you taking writing 39c next quarter?

im soooo nervous, my status chnaged earlier this week, this is it now…

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2011)
We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

Hm…a few days ago I sent in a message from this link [Contact Us - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/contact/contactus.html) to ask about the Foreign Language requirement (I had forgotten that I took a course for college credit senior year of high school in French, so I wanted to tell them about it) and they still haven’t responded. I don’t know who my counselor is there or anything so Idk if I did that correctly. Ughhhh
