USC 2023

Hello all hope all is well! Just wondering if anyone had any idea of the possibilities of my daughter being accepted. We are OOS she has a 3.6 gpa, 1280 SAT and a variety of very good extracurriculars and put her top major choice as elementary education. She applied regular and I’m also wondering if they stick by the March 12th date or if some letters come out beforehand. Wishing everyone the best of luck on their college journeys thank you!!!

Hard to say. She seems within the range stat-wise but every year it gets more competitive so I would not say it’s a given even though she’s got good grades/test scores. Have you calculated her GPA using USC’s formula or is this from her school?

kristen2256 - I agree with the last post. A lot depends on how good her high school is and if she took honors classes or not. If she went to a competitive high school and took many honors classes, I would say she definitely has a shot at getting in. My son is OOS, went to a competitive high school, took all honors classes all four years, and got in Early Action for the Business School. His unweighted GPA was lower than your daughter’s but his SAT was slightly higher.

Great thank you. And yes a couple of honors and Ap’s but a very competitive private all girls school. Looking at previously accepted girls from her school she appears to be just around their stats. Thank you! Congrats to your son, we are hoping for the best!!

@kristen2256 the competitive school will help–my D had around a 3.8 (they did a 100 pt GPA scale so we never figured out EXACTLY what her 4.0 scale one was) and a 30 ACT. GPA wasn’t great but she also went to a very rigorous prep school and took higher level classes/APs, so I think that helped.

Best of luck

It’s hard to say what the rhyme or reason is.

Kristen2256 Dis she get accepted ?

Excuse the typo ! Did she …

S got a voicemail from prof at SCA admissions and was told he had a few questions. We thought maybe he had left something out of app but when son returned call it seemed to be interview - not at all prepared for that! The prof was very complimentary - “beautiful” “love your work” “why are you applying to school instead of working”. I’ve seen students are getting Skype interviews. This was not that. Is it the same thing or something else? The suspense is driving me crazy…

Yes!!!

I got mine on Friday…
$40,000 ($9,556/year)

OOS (Illinois)
29 ACT
4.55 Weighted GPA
Psychology (B.A.)

Well it wasn’t the magical mail box moment that we experienced with my eldest, but my daughter just checked her portal (6 pm cst) and she got in! So very excited for her…We’re in San Antonio. Stats: 1500/3.84, dbl legacy. Wishing everyone the best, and FIGHT ON and ON and ON!!!

We have a rising sophomore at USC who’s also a Presidential Merit Scholar. I believe you will never know the exact formula of what USC is looking for in their kids, but they want kids who’s will continue to grow and make a difference in the world, in their communities and to others. It’s a truly special experience to be a student and to have a student at USC. And for those who aren’t as fortunate, have confidence USC did the due diligence to review the applicants in full, to look for that special quality they wanted and embrace your opportunity to make the best decision for yourself or your child. There’s a great place for all. And btw, my incoming freshman was offered TTP, she’s already made her decision on what’s next and moved on.
