CONGRATULATIONS!

**odadada **- Domestic applicants by US Priority mail, internationals by DHL.

Has anyone who has gotten into CAS majoring in English?

I’ve seen so many Viterbi and Marshall acceptances…and the only CAS acceptances that I’ve seen have been for philosophy and what not.

ok so I haven’t received any official word yet either way, but my status went review>forwarded Monday>review Wednesday, and I can access the RSVP page and the commitment form. So that’s good, right?

I also kind of accidentally responded to an accepted students event… but that’s a discussion for another thread. I was planning on going anyways, though.

Anybody with acceptances from Annenberg?
Seems like a majority are from Marshall and CLAS…

At last, my son (in large Texas city) received his acceptance yesterday from the Marshall School of Business. His stats include: 2260 SAT, National Merit Finalist, 4.0 GPA (weighted–he attends challenging private school), 5 AP courses with 5s on only 2 AP exams he has taken so far, six years of acting training, acting troupe at school and for seven summers at prestigious summer theatre program, appearances in more than 20 productions, nightly rehearsals from 6 to 9 pm during over 60% of each school year. For him, USC has always been the only college in the world. He never seriously considered any other school. Partly because his counselor told us we would probably hear from USC in January, we endured 6 weeks of extreme stress while waiting for the magic envelope. Toward the end, even I could see that no school is worth this much anguish. If you don’t get into USC, don’t worry about it. America is the land of second chances. You can always transfer into USC later or go to graduate school there. For now, go where you are wanted, study hard and you will do just fine.

First CONGRATULATIONS on your son’s acceptance!

I wanted to also make a comment on:

It seems to me the anguish was caused by the counselor who told you that you would hear from USC in January. USC clearly states on their admissions website and in all correspondance that they will notify applicants by April 1st.

I am sorry your son’s counselor has soured you on USC. It is a wonderful school. Perhaps you could suggest to the counselor that he/she not give out the wrong notification date to next year’s applicants to avoid causing them the anguish he/she caused you.

Again, CONGRATS on the acceptance! You son sounds like a great kid!

By the way, I am sure you already know that as a NMF, your son is eligible for a Presidential Scholarship at USC. It is approximately $20,000/year ($80,000 total) and is automatic if he names USC as his first-choice school by the deadline.

Congrats to all of you have gotten in and Congrats to those of you that haven’t because you will get in to an awesome school that is right for you. Keep an open mind and don’t get so caught up in the wave, so to speak. My son got in with good grades and SATs but not much ec activities, no athletics, no drama. He is a quiet kid that studied hard without a lot of filler stuff. Just wanted to share that because I know how daunting it can sometimes be to read these boards and feel the sky is falling. It isn’t - it is wide open for you. Namaste.
