usc admission rate

last year it was 27%? that is really selective!

and it's gonna get lower this year, I'm sure.

That's what it sounds like from the articles I've read

The admission rate is misleading. If you look on USC's stat page, they actually show the ranges for the applicant pool. It appears that many applicants just aren't qualified, so it isn't as competitive as you would think with 27%. For example, the SAT ranges for applicants are about 1100-1300, those accepted: 1290-1400.

Here are the Official Applicant, Admission, and Matriculation stats:

<a href="http://afaweb.esd.usc.edu/USC-AFA/upload_images/Freshman%20Profile%2020051.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://afaweb.esd.usc.edu/USC-AFA/upload_images/Freshman%20Profile%2020051.pdf</a></p>

Your information, gcards1, is wrong. In fact, the matriculants' stats are a bit worse than the admits!

I know the matriculants' stats are worse than the admits, but I'm saying those accepted are high in the applicant pool. I'm saying many people apply who probably wouldn't get in. i.e. Range for applicants is 1140 to 1380 (25th-75th), while range getting in is 1300-1460. Not that much overlap if you ask me, considering 25% of applicants have scores below 1140 (not competitive). Now those matriculating is slightly different, but I'm just saying for those who get in.

gcards1, so what? It's like that at every school in the country.

I know. Nevermind. People are taking this the wrong way.

Yeah... EVERY school has people apply that have no shot - that is not something unique to USC... The way you phrased it ("The admission stats are misleading.") was a complete shot to USC, and we are going to defend our school!

Yea I know. I got in, so I'm not meaning to demean USC as there is a good chance I may end up there!
