^^ truly thrilled is correct. should i be accepted, there will be a 30min gap of my opening of the letter and USC receiving my deposit. the 30min is for the shock to pass ^_^

Haha! Aww, I really hope you get in! ( and not in the hollow, "good luck, I'm such a nice message board poster" type way, either! )

like a willow,

I hope you get into Wellesley! My niece went there and thrived! I had always hoped my daughter would go there, but she has chosen to stay local and is really, really hoping that she will get into USC. Now I'm hoping she gets into USC, too!

Thank you so much! I wish the same good luck to your daughter that you did to me :D

I think this status page has just made people get unnecessarily nervous. If they're going to have rolling admissions, which is basically what they have, it should be slightly more formal, and the status page should just not exist. They should say like, "If you submit your app by Dec. 10, you will receive a decision by Jan or Feb," and so on, much like the University of Michigan. The college process is nerve-racking enough without people obsessing over status pages! Now, obviously, this status page thing in no way affects my feelings on USC (I will eternally love it), but I think I would have been better w/o it. I'm just staying excited about all my schools! I have sent in a housing deposit to another school already, just in case!

Rolling admission means they evaluate and reply to your applications within the specific time-peroid mentioned while applying.
What USC has is not rolling because they dont care when you apply. They will evaluate you along with everyone else irrespective of when they applied.
The reason they send out acceptances in order of preference could be because they may want to show the student that they are interested in them. Nothing else.
Again i repeat USC does NOT have rolling admissions.

You know, at the start of my college apps, my only goal was not to be the girl that got denied everywhere. I wanted to get into one of the top four schools I put on my list, even if the first three were too high for me to reach. So slowly, USC became my number one. But now, I'm tired, overworked with homework (5 APs), and pretty much sick of everything. So I stopped caring. Not about high school, but college in general. So I'm just going to go with the flow now. If I end up at my safety, I don't care. At least they love me enough to give me free tuition plus 11k a year.

Wow! Lucky you to have an offer for free college tuition plus 11k per year. You certainly have a great offer to feel good about.

I get free tuition because my mother works there and the scholarship was because I had the best application of the entire pool. It goes on top of any financial aid I get, which I won't get any since my mom's employee benifits takes care of the 28k tuition.

NIckel=what school is your safety?

i think its the University of Dallas. sorry nickel

Yeah. That's it.

likeawillow:

I feel EXACTLY the same way you do.

USC was my top choice somewhere along the line and it changed very quickly when I found out I didn't get in with one of the scholarships - and even more since i haven't been accepted yet.

I received the letter from USC saying that I didn't qualify for the scholarships on the same day I received a big package from UC Berkeley saying that I qualified for the Regents - needless to say, I was sold over to UC Berkeley and drifted further and further away from USC.

I have above-the-average stats for USC - 4.0 UW, 4.7 W, 34 ACT, good extracurriculars, 1/688 in rank.. etc etc.. I'm confused.

The system did really drift me far apart because every time a wave comes I find myself more and more frustrated and angry...

To be honest, are you guys just bitter? lol. USC IS just as competitive as UCLA and Berkeley. I don't know why you're acting like if you get Berkeley Regents then you should automatically be getting one of the two big scholarships from USC. You'll most likely get in USC with your stats anyway..and it's not like if you don't get presidnetial or trustees then you automatically have to pay 50k.

Well, out-of-state, UCLA and Berkeley are much more competitive. That's not to say they're superior schools, but like UVA and UNC, they give a big preference to in-state applicants and they reserve very few spots for out-of-staters.

Honestly, USC is a great school but no school is for everyone. It's great that some of you have done some reflection and found the perfect school for yourselves, regardless of whether or not that school is USC.

Me? I'd take USC over any other school.

Taiwaneseterror:

I didn't say anything about how I should be automatically getting ANYTHING, I just said the two letters happening to arrive in my mailbox the same day (and for your information, i opened the USC one first cause I was more anxious about USC) and one bringing bad news and one bringing good news, I was instinctively driven toward the school giving me good news.

And yes I am very bitter. lol. I want to get in, that's why I'm cruising around the USC forum on this site every 2 minutes...

I'm not bitter about anything either, just very frustrated with the whole process and very tired.

It'll all be worth it if I get in, but it's gonna be a huge letdown otherwise. Although I definitely am psyched to hear back from several of my other schools, none of them have active online status updates or a board on this site nearly as active as this one in terms of analyzing the "waves" and whatnot...they just have a vague date like "late March" in which I expect a letter.

So while I kind of just forget about them because there's little I can do but wait, I keep checking my USC status and coming back here to see what other info I can find. It will be tough to get a rejection, that's for sure.

Haha...elisa you wanna know what's bitter....getting rejected by my safety school!!! lol

yea u guys really shouldn't be mad...they said they would mail out everyone's decisions by April 1...its not past April 1 so its not like they're aren't keeping their word...at least they offer u the ability to see ur status application, its not like its your birth or god-given rite
