Hey,
I need some advice on neighborhoods near USC campus. Where to live? I am interested in renting a 2 bedroom apartment near USC.
Thanks

how long did it take for your financial aid awards to show up on Oasis after you had been admitted for most of you guys?

It’s been about two weeks since I got my acceptance letter & I’m still waiting for my financial aid awards. I received an email though that I should receive my financial aid awards this week.

It took about 3 days for me for fin. aid to show up.

p.s. Hey guys, when are we allowed to transfer our Cal grant over? If I do so, all of my loans will go away. When I called they said a couple of weeks but It still doesn’t let me do it online. :/

usc24 – I haven’t received any news about my financial aid. They sent a request for 4 more documents and I sent them and I know they received them, yet still no word. When did you get the e-mail?

WOT- You got your Cal Grant already? I mailed my ‘G-6 Transfer Entitlement Certification Form’ two weeks ago and my status still says ‘Pending Certificate Form’. Did you have to fill out this form?

carbrooks- I emailed them last week regarding my financial aid status and I received a reply two days later on 6/18.

usc24- No. I think you misread my post. My cal grant is still set out to my community college so I need to transfer it. I called the # on the site and they told me to wait a couple of weeks until my app is finished. I’m just wondering what’s taking so long since I sent my GPA verification form like the first day. As far as I know, you can change your school online, it just doesn’t let me yet.

p.s. I’ve never heard of that form what is it for? Are you transferring from a four year university btw?

WOT- Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up. I talked to a Cal Grant rep. and she told me that they should finish processing the ‘G-6 Transfer’ form in the end of July. I’m eligible for Cal Grant A (Woohoo! and according to her, it’s $9,700 for private institutions) but it takes a while to process.

The ‘G-6 Transfer Entitlement Certification Form’ is a form verifying what high school I went to and what college I’m transferring to. Also, I’m transferring from a community college.

Congrats on your full ride, just read that your cal grant will wipe out all of the loans. That’s what I’m hoping for :)

Wow! I just received this email from USC, anybody get this too?

Yeah I got a nice package but not so much a full ride, lol, especially if one has loans. I still have to do work study and pay a bit. But it’s all definately manageable and very accomodating. I asked the lady if I should fill something out and she told me that I just need to wait until they finish processing.

Yep just got the email. Gotta love LA hah

Ummm… Anyone get to the language placement test part of the orientation homework yet and try it? I want to see if anyone else gets the bypass message or if they actually have to take it.

Solomon, I skipped both of my placement exams after I got my STARS report. My major doesn’t require a language, and I already have all the required math courses, so I don’t need to take math anymore. I was never blocked when I clicked “continue” for the placement exams (again, I did not take any of them).

Solomonm, I thought Marshall doesn’t require any language?

I dont think they do. But I cant find out until I do the math placement test tomorrow =P. Cant do the language test until the math test is done… shoulda done college algebra this year… ugh… I tested out of it so I never took it at my last school

Solomonm- You won’t be able to do the language test online because the screen says something to the effect of ‘transfers students aren’t eligible’ to take language placement online. I’m sure you already know this but try and finish the rest of the steps after you take your math asap because you’re supposed to complete the pre-orientation hw 72 hours before orientation.

p.s. Nope, there’s no foreign language requirement for Marshall.

hah yah I got until friday. The rest of the “homework” looks like its mostly just informational stuff and setting up your USC ID card etc. I’m not too worried. I am however, not looking forward to waking up at 5:30am on tuesday to make it through morning traffic to the god forsaken 7:30am check-in. orientation is 10 hours loonnnnggggg

Yikes. =P Yeah, the rest of it isn’t so bad.
Have you guys been emailed the schedule for orientation? I have no idea where I’m going… or checking in?

What other placement tests are there? And I don’t really understand why you have to take a math placement test when you’ve already completed calculus for your prereq? What happens if you score poorly on the test?

Unfortunately, you guys better get used to these DPS e-mails. We got them a few times a month, but in a way they reminded us to be vigilant and street-smart all the time-- on campus or off.

haha i got that campus alert email on my blackberry (because i’m a dork and already programmed my USC email as an email box on my phone) and i was talking to my mom about USC…and i quietly put my phone away after that, haha.
