USC Admitted Transfer Students 2008

So I’m looking at the schedule of classes and the majority of the classes of ‘writing 340-advanced writing for business’ courses are full, am I screwed? or will they open the course for me at orientation?

usc24- Yeah that we’re messed up on. My advisor said people typically take it junior year and that she recommend I wait. When A class says it has one space open, that also means that they ahve a waitlist and that they’re emailing those students to see whose signind up.

When a class section number has a D after it, it means you need departmental clearance whihc makes it less likely that you will be able to sign up if you are not a specific major or a transfer, probably, since it can take a while.

I’m taking Writing 340 in the spring, I guess. :/

kbsr27- LOL.

I got an e-mail with some info for Orientation. It tells you where to meet (Parkside) and that we get a free parking pass for the day. It starts at 7 so rise and shine!!

WOT- About the Cal Grant, did you talk to someone specifically or did you get an automated message because I’ve called and it’s always a message that they are too busy. I called another time and it was a different because it said that they would start reviewing renewals at the end of June. What’s your 411?

I think I have to wait for my Cal Grant because I’ve been selected for verification at my other school so I went in to turn those papers yesterday and the girl told me it’s going to take 2-3weeks to process and once it’s processed I can go online and view it. I’m guessing once I’m able to view it I can transfer it to USC because I’ve been checking for like 3 weeks now if I can switch it over because at the moment I’m not able to do it either. This Cal Grant would help sooo much because it takes away my loans too!! :)

I called the Cal Grant state office something or other and was on hold for like 15 minutes, lol. The lady said to wait a couple of weeks, by my calculations end of June or the beginning of July, and then I would be able to transfer the Cal Grant over.

Yeah, it’ll take a way my loans, which would be awesome. All I have to do after that is work study and cover the EFC, which is not bad. (Pretty much just the cost of housing)

what did everyone get for housing?

Do you guys think housing is still available?

I applied 3 weeks ago… still havent received an assignment

I asked for reassignment weeks ago and still no answer. :/

man that math placement test sucked… and the website went down when I still had 8 minutes left… almost punched a whole in the wall. Placed high enough though =)

What did you guys put down as your top choices?

Does anyone know when our federal pell grants get approved? Because, mine says, “Estimated Federal Pell Grant—N” “N” = Notification, meaning it has to be approved. Anyone?

sunsetsam-Well I thought everything gets credited a few days before the semester starts.

What confuses me is the work study. I have to pay that amount before the year begins and not during, as I work for it?

hahaha nice, solomon! i hate placement tests…thank god i didn’t have to take them!

i’m not a fan of the 7am time, but i’ll deal with it. july 1st is getting so close!

Housing is still open for transfer students, people cancel and such so its limited but if you applied june 7th or around there then you should be getting it.

Century was my top choice and I only got it cause of the rainbow floor, but before then I was assigned to stardust which was my last choice

ahhhhh I applied the day after I got my letter which was like the 21st…

just going to have to pray for an assignment!

oh and my top choices were century, cardinal gardens, and troy east

How are those placement tests going?

I finally joined facebook and added the group. So add me guys :)

does anyone know anything about Cardinal Gardens???

You guys should occasionally look at your stars report, they update it. I printed my stars report about 3 days ago (because thats needed at the orientation), and then yesterday, I checked out my report because I was bored, and they counted two more of my classes.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for opinions. I was admitted to USC with very good FA for this year, but that is expected to change significantly next year due to changing circumstances (so no need to panic it will happen to you). At the same time, I was just accepted to Columbia University on a scholarship, but with little FA. If you had your choice, which college would you take? Both with money as an issue and not being an issue.
