USC Advisers let me down.

I've been trying to contact the Viterbi advisers FOR A WEEK now. After countless phone calls and emails, and I have gotten no email replies or call backs from the advisers.

So I'm coming to you now CC.

What is a good fall schedule for me while attending a community college this fall (freshman spring admit)? I register for classes tomorrow, so this is very important.

I plan to major in Civil Engineering.

I've got some of it down. I know I can't take physics because USC's physics is special for the engineering program. I know I continue onto the next level of calculus.

Do I take chemistry and/or biology? What Gen Eds should I get out of the way? I heard getting rid of the writ 130 class is smart.

I don't know if these will help, but here are my AP scores.

Span Lang: 3
English Lit: 3
US Gov: 3
Physics B: 4
Stats: 5
Calc AB: 5

I know USC doesn't accept 3's from 2009, but I'm using these for the community college.

I'm attending Mt. San Antonio College.

Here is the articulation agreement: https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx

Region: Riverside/San Bernardino Area
School: Mount San Antonio College

Guys, thanks a bunch. I can't even to elaborate on how much this means to me.

btbam91

Basically, take GEs if you can, and math, since math is pretty universal. As for other suggestions, look at your major’s four-year course plan and take classes from the first year that you can take. Pretty sure you take at least one chemistry course.

http://viterbi.usc.edu/assets/070/60408.pdf

Scroll down to page 6 for your course plan. Take anything that will transfer and get you out of a class.

Give this a try. SC has an articulation office. Here is the phone number: 213 740 4628.

I just graduated from USC with a civil engineering degree. I highly recommend taking your chemistry requirement at a community college. This is because chem at USC is full of pre-med students who study their butts off while you will probably never use it as a civil engineer. Biology is not required for civil engineers.

You should also take Calc II, that way you can start in Calc III once you get to USC in the spring. Other than that, try to get some GE courses out of the way.

Let me know if you have any other questions about civil engineering at USC. Feel free to send me a private message.

Guys, you make me feel so much better about my situation. I got together with my brother, and he helped me out a lot.

I’m taking:

CalcII
American Literature (Category V)
General Chem (Category III)
Philosophy (Writ 140)

What me and my brother talked about matches exactly what I read in this thread, especially with what 2+2=5 said.

Thanks guys.

Philosophy transfers for writ 140? sure about that one?

Yeah, it’s a Philosophy writing class. It says very clearly on the articulation agreement. I’m taking it online! Hehe.

Are you sure online classes count for credit? I recall reading somewhere that they don’t :x

Online writing classes count! The articulation agreement only states that online foreign language and online lab courses do not count. Good luck as a spring admit!
