<p>Dr. Jose de Marca, USC Viterbi alumnus, has been elected president of the 400,000 member IEEE. He is the first president to be elected from Brazil. Dr. de Marca has received various honors in his career:</p>

<p>Founding President of the Brazilian Telecommunications Society
Elected to the National Academy of Engineering
Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences
Fellow of the IEEE
Recipient of the IEEE Third Millenium Medal</p>

<p>Dr. de Marca will take office in 2014 and will serve as President Elect in 2013.</p>
