Does anyone know if USC accepts ASL as a foreign language from HS?
I dont know, but I just wanted to comment because I know ASL fluently! good luck !!
When I went to my orientation, some Dornsife person was giving a little talk about requirements and when a student raised their hand to ask about ASL, he stated that they do not recognize it as a foreign language. I thought that was a bit of a bummer since the UC’s seem to take it as a foreign language. Anyway, this was back in December 2015. Maybe they allow ASL to cover the requirement, but it certainly didn’t seem to be the case when I started at USC.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but just thought I’d add that a girl from my daughter’s high school was admitted to USC last year (as a freshman) and she had two years of ASL at the community college for her foreign language requirement.
^^^Being admitted with ASL does not mean it fulfills the language requirement at USC. Two separate questions. While a student may be admitted after taking ASL in high school or community college, ASL does not fulfill the foreign language requirement for those majors that require one to graduate.
