so, i'm in a situation where i'm a freshman at ucsd...but the place where i really want to be is usc -- more specifically annenberg for print journalism.

i got rejected the first time, and i would love to be able to transfer in as a sophomore -- but it doesn't seem to be a viable option. most likely, i will try to transfer in as a junior instead.

anyways, what i wanted to know is:
has anyone even heard of someone being rejected by usc and then being accepted a year later as a transfer?
does usc keep rejected applications on file so that they can look at them again in case students reapply as transfers?

also, does anyone have any general advice on transferring into annenberg?
i often hear transferring is mainly based on numbers and extracurriculars carry little weight, but it seems like annenberg would value both...

i definitely had a strong level of leadership and involvement in my high school newspaper (EIC), and had strong essays/recommendations. i would guess that ultimately it was my gpa that kept me out of usc the first time around.

any help would be appreciated...i just need help being pointed in the right direction.
