Well i just got accepted into the School of Architecture summer program at USC and I am going to attend a 4 week credit course over the summer. Will this raise my chance of getting in USC when i actually apply? I asked some of my friends that got accepted into USC and they told me you can raise you chances of getting in if you have connections at the University. Is this true?
(My GPA and Scores arent TOO bad GPA: 3.6 SAT: 2060 EC: Boy Scouts, Black Belt in Tae kwon do, Dance Club, Community Orchestra, and ACE architecture program)

My son went to the summer program in architecture last year. It’s intense and a preview of what’s to come in college (he rarely left the studio before 9 PM each day and often stayed much later). At the end of the program, he had great new designs for his portfolio and detailed written feedback from his professors. Plus college credit. Oh, and he was accepted in USC’s BArch program (don’t know if his summer participation had anything to do with that, but I doubt it hurt). During the summer, he grumbled a bit that the other kids were having more fun than the architecture kids, but in retrospect he thinks the program was awesome :-)

My best friend from high school also went to the summer program and was accepted to USC arch the following year because she made relationships with current Arch students and the professors. (She didn’t attend because of money, but she always spoke highly of the summer program!)

It is definitely not an automatic “in,” but I’m sure it helps!

Hey pacmancollege
I’m going to be attending the Summer@USC program this summer too for International Relations. Maybe we’ll see each other there? :)

Woahhh really? Thats cool! What grade are you in?

I’m currently a junior. Do you have a facebook?

There’s a Facebook page for the USC summer program you could check out too. There’s a decent amount of people on it already.
