USC as a CC top university

is it me, or does the usc board have more activity than some of the colleges on the CC top university list? i'm not sure how they decide which college gets on there (either posts or hits) but i think USC might be popular enough to get on. ucla is on there, why not us?

It's based on US News rankings.

I think it's mainly based on US News, but I think they're a bit biased. Anyone wonder how the CC top universities conveniently stops RIGHT BEFORE USC? And CC ain't listing their top 25, I counted 27 colleges. Why can't Tufts be on CC's list, or NYU?

My Trojan pride might be getting to my head, but I think I speak truth when I say that constant bugging of CC has been and will always be useless because the CC staff hates USC and will always hate USC no matter how high in the rankings we get or how much more exponentially active our message boards become. And if you CC mods read this, know very well that there is a enormous number of us who can think of and endless number of reasons why USC deserves to be moved to the CC top universities list. And we'll start this thread as a petition if we must!

Okay, I'm done ranting. Time to play Tusk as I watch Rose Bowl highlights and thank George Lucas for being a Trojan...

Umm...no. Part of it has been that there are more important issues right now facing CC.com (like server issues) than putting USC up. I'm part of the evil empire you speak of and have no ill will toward USC (football excepted, but only for tongue-in-cheek rivalry's sake).

Yes, there are legitimate reasons to move USC up to top university status.

No, we don't all hate USC.

Carry on.

True. While I think it should be up on CC top universities, it's more a sin of omission than a sin of malice; moreso than people not wanting it, it's just been no one thought it important enough to actually go through the trouble. I'm sure that CC top universities hasn't been changed since the board went up originally years ago, and there are a few other schools also deserving of the "honor" :)

Plus, if they start adding schools, soon everyone will be whining about wanting their school on "cc top universities" and annoying all the mods all the time :)

No...no...it must be malice. It's always malice. Especially when things don't go your way.

;)

Meh. The CC Top Universities were taken directly from the US News rankings from 3 or 4 years ago. So no there is no bias and no there is no evil conspiracy against USC.

Sure, one can make a case that USC should be up there. But the same can be said for Tufts. And if USC and Tufts get added, then you'd hear cries of exclusion from NYU and Boston College.

I personally don't care. I don't need a forum grouping to validate that USC is a top university.

Just my two cents!

Gasp. How utterly reasonable.

We must silence you. With flattery.

I'd rather they fix the server issues than put USC in the top universities list.

Awww, are you obsessed with the board? Clicking on the CC link is as compulsive as checking my facebook nowadays...

Why would you want USC to be a top university on CC?

I mean, we all love the school but I'm a realist. *Having USC as a CC top would popularize USC even more and encourage more students to apply, thus making everything more competitive for us. *

maybe an overstatement that the entire CC staff hates USC, but I bet there are staff members that hate USC for no reason.

If you walk around with in your cardinal and gold long enough in different areas, you'll start to hear people mumbling to each other about how they hate USC, and some hate USC just because we're USC. Probably jealous of our yearly bowl games we play in, or maybe the fact that we're the #6 most technologically wired college in the U.S., or that our college rubs shoulders with high-profile celebrities =)

Guess that's the price we pay as Trojans in a period of USC's history recovering from our "University of Spoiled Children" stereotype.

so fix the servers, THEN move us up!

Double or nothing. Double or nothing.

UCLAri, you must be really bored to join this USC thread..

I just saw it on the "new posts" list and thought it might be interesting.

So far not much, sadly. I was hoping for a real ruckus. Unfortunately, USC students seem quite comfortable with their university and its quality even without the minor kudos that being a CC Top University would offer.

And why the bold?

most ppl i know of think better of USC and Tufts than they do of UNC-CH or UMich. Yet USC and Tufts are not on the list and UNC and UMich are. Go figure.

you're always a welcome addition here, uclari

USC better than Michigan?

Now I have to disagree. A lot.

USC is definitely a great school, but Michigan is a heavyweight in academics that is probably the next best thing to Berkeley as far as publics go. Most of its departments are either top 10 or 15, and its professional schools are up there with the rest of the top programs.

And before anyone says I hate USC, I don't. But saying that Harvard is generally better than UCLA doesn't mean that UCLA is some backwater. It's just being fair-minded. Similarly, Michigan is generally better than USC in most things.

Cheers. :)

if only schools were ranked by the attractiveness of their girls. usc would be top ten.

The only ranking that counts.
