USC (BA) vs NYU Tisch Theatre Acting

Hey guys! So I was admitted (this is the daughter of Theaterdad54) to both USC for the BA in theatre and NYU Tisch BFA acting. Suffice to say I am very conflicted. I love everything about USC, except for the formatting of its program. NYU Tisch really advertises its program as truly focusing on acting while allowing the flexibility to study other subjects. It also promotes the idea of really becoming an actor with its different houses and its in depth studies of Meisner, Stella Adler, etc. Whenever I look at the USC course description for BA Theatre, all I see is Acting I, II, III, Shakespeare, and other such courses. Could someone who is a B.A. at USC (or anyone who is knowledgable on the subject) respond with details on the B.A. in theatre at USC? What methods are studied, how in depth does the course take one, etc. Thanks and hope to get some responses!

I don’t have the answer to your questions, I just want to say “ditto”. My daughter is in the exact same spot that you’re in. She’s been admitted to the BA program at USC and the BFA program at Tisch. Hope we both get good information!

I can tell you right off the bat that because it’s a BA, it’s not as in-depth as Tisch. Tisch is part-Conservatory style training. If you want the best possible theatre experience, go with Tisch. If you were going into FILM, then I’d say do the opposite.
