USC BFA Theatre

If you are below both the gpa and sat requirements, how difficult will it be to get into the theatre department at USC? Are grade a huge factor?

They weigh the audition heavily. My D is auditioning on Feb 5th.

so am I! good luck to her as well

Cool maybe we’ll see you. She will be at the 8am session. She’ll probably be wearing a grey dress with bell sleeves since that’s become her audition “uniform”!

Thanks @marg928 That is good news. I keep wondering if this will be the place my daughter is accepted artistically and rejected academically. This will be her reachiest reach and of course has become her favorite. She will audition Sunday but in the afternoon. If you have any info to share about the audition that would be great.

@samigaga it’s also quite an academic reach for my D but I really don’t think it’s going to factor in that much. Talent weighs more just like at Carnegie Mellon. That’s why I was reluctant to have her go for the BA since that will be based on academics.

Also @samigaga they do not do academic acceptances separate from artistic like some schools do. My D has already had eight academic acceptances but we are still waiting on the artistic acceptance for many of them.

Aw actually my audition is Friday the 3rd ! But thanks so much @marge28 for the Heflin insight ! Good luck to your D!

Thanks @marg928 Fingers crossed!

My D auditioned today. Interesting info session. I had noticed recently that the BFA changed names and they explained the changes to the major that will be implemented this fall. It was monologues first then interviews. She thought it went pretty well so we shall see!

Did anyone get an email from the interviewer? My D got a personal email the night of her interview which was very nice. Just wondering if I should read anything into it…

yup i think we all got the email immediately after our interview

when do decisions usually go out?
