USC Birnkrant Residence Halls Eligibility

Hi!
I was recently accepted into USC Annenberg for Fall 2013, for Communications. I am so happy! As long as my FA works out, USC will be my college next year.

I was looking through the Living at USC packet from my acceptance, and based on this and what I know from many friends who have gone/are going to USC, I think Birnkrant would be a good fit for me. However, is it true that you have to be a scholarship recipient to gain acceptance to the residence hall?

I really hope not, as I personally don't know why I didnt get a merit scholarship as I have comparable stats.

Any help will be very much appreciated!!

Based off what I know, the scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for Birnkrant. They get dibs on the rooms, and if there’s any room leftover, non-scholarship students may be assigned. But there isn’t even enough room for all of the scholarship recipients, and it’s a first-come, first-serve basis.

This is just what I’ve heard/read.

I am an incoming student that interviewed for a Presidential scholarship. I haven’t gotten my letter yet, but I’m worried that I didn’t get the scholarship. I am, however, a National Merit Finalist. Am I eligible for Birnkrant?

^ Pretty sure you are, my host at explore lived in Birnkrant and she had the NMF scholarship

^^^Yes. All NMF Presidential scholarship recipients are eligible for Birnkrant. It is considered the same as the regular Presidential scholarship in terms of all the benefits. Your letter about the NMF Pres should arrive in a week or two (by mid April). There are papers to sign to accept the scholarship. Make sure USC is your school choice with NM by May 1.

The last two years Birnkrant has been for Stamps/Mork/Trustee/Pres/NMF Pres scholarship recipients (maybe RHP too?). All roommates must be scholarship holders when requesting Birnkrant.

I PMed you.

From my experience, Birnkrant is open to Trustee, Presedential and Mork scholars only. I had my roommate plan set up and she was a scholarship recipient and I wasn’t, but we put down Birnkrant anyway. The housing office split us up and she got Birnkrant and I got overflow housing at Parkside IRC.
