USC chances?

I am a Junior going into her senior year.
I took all honor classes freshman and sophomore year and maintained a GPA of 3.9. This year I took AP USH and AP Biology along with a College Algebra Trigonometry (H) class and my normal electives (choir and drama) all of my other classes were honors. My uw cumulative GPA is a 3.69.

Here's my schedule for senior year
Peer Mentors and Ministry (I got to a Catholic School)
AP Gov
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus AB
AP Music Theory
Concert and Chamber Choir
Honors Shakespeare

I'm taking the ACT in April and the SAT in May, I'm also taking the SAT subject tests.

My extracurriculars include Orchestra (I'm a Violist), Women's Chorus, and Drama.

I'm also very active in the Youth Group at my Church. I've gone on several mission trips to Indian Reservations across the U.S., I have around 400 service hours and I'm up for a leadership role in this youth group this year. I am also a youth minister in the middle school youth group.

In addition to this I have a summer internship at the local research institution where I assisted with a graduate student and worked individually on my own project as a subset of the graduate student's work, which is currently entered in a science fair.

What are my current chances and what should I do to increase them?

Also, I'm ranked 65th in a class of 250

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1213/USCFreshmanProfile2012.pdf</a></p>

The above link shows you the stats for the 2012 entering class. When it comes to academic statistics more is almost always better than less. So push to keep moving your UW GPA higher. Test scores will be important, for 2012, the average SAT was 2140 and 31-32 for the ACT - you want to at least be in that neighborhood.

You’re on track GPA-wise and you’ve got good class rigor and interesting community service. Both certainly help.

Careful with USC, it is somewhat unpredictable. My friend and I were both rejected from USC as National Merit Finalists, top 3 in the class of over 450, strong EC’s, and Department of Education Presidential Scholar semifinalists. Essentially, we had stellar test scores, good EC’s, and we each competed nationally in some of our EC’s (I was an Army All-American musician, she went to nationals for debate). She’s now at Harvard and I accepted an almost full ride at TCU; this was the only university that rejected either of us. So even if USC is your dream school, from personal experience to get a couple quality backups that you would be happy matriculating to.

PhysicsPhrog, your posts are inconsistent.

According to recent post (yesterday), you are an applicant THIS year (see post #13 here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tcu/1423377-tcu-class-2017-ea-rd-results.html#post15652253</a> ). University of Southern California has NOT released any rejections yet, so how can you state that you have been rejected? USC will mail decisions March 26th and they will be available online on Friday, March 29th [USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/) .

In other posts you claim to be a current TCU student (Post #9: <a href=“Chancellor's - TCU - College Confidential Forums”>Chancellor's - TCU - College Confidential Forums; ) and you list your age as 20 on your profile.

Inconsistencies of this type mean that your posts cannot be taken seriously. Please clarify.

ACT: Aim for 31+

Everything looks good but unless you get really good SAT/ACT score your chances won’t be all that great :frowning: aim for 2100+ and 31-33 for ACT! Good luck, I’m also hoping for USC :D

USC: Aim for 31+/2100+
