usc chances?

I have an E and D on my transcript from freshman year. I retook geometry because I got an E and I guess they averaged it to be a D. But the E is still there. My gpa was a 2.85 uw because of those grades However, this year as a sophomore I have a 3.5 uw gpa so far and I'm still plan on improving. If i get straight A's from now on I can even get a 3.6 uw gpa counting freshman year. I was just wondering if colleges will reject me because of my E and D on my transcript even if I show an upward trend? I do well in my other classes...it was just geometry that gave me trouble. So how much will those grades affect my chances even with many ecs and high sats scores??

don't worry about being accepted by usc yet. you're only a sophomore, and regardless of where you want to go, you should get the highest grades possible. don't think about college now, think about grades.

^That's right. Just do the best you can so that you can have as many options open as possible. I think a strong upward trend, especially if you are taking tough classes (AP, IB, etc.), will definitely help you. I don't think an E and a D freshman year will take you out of the running. Score well on your SAT I and IIs, AP exams, and continue to bust your butt off and anything can happen.

So is an E your schools equivalent to failing? Or is it a grade between failing and a D?

just to let you know, you're favorite school will change many times in the next couple of years. just do your best and be prepared to qualify for any school you might want to go to your senior year.

They give out E's now?? Wow. Hehe.

i'm guessing it doesn't stand for excellent

haha yeah you need to get to stepping and raise that gpa

i think u should take goemetry over the summer again and replace that grade. does ur school allow u to take summer courses to improve grades?

That's what I did the summer of my 7th grade. I got a "B" in Integrated 2 and I wanted an A.
