Hi all,

I'm currently a sophomore at a "Distinguished" high school in Southern CA. My dream is to attend USC's Annenberg School of Communications after I graduate. I have pretty good grades, but they're not insanely high or anything...my GPA as of right now is a 3.9. I'm going to be taking AP courses throughout high school. This year I took AP European History, next year (junior) I plan on taking AP Psychology, AP English, and AP US. I'm a member of the California Scholarship Federation, have extra community service work, and will most likely continue being on the Honor Roll for the rest of my HS career.

I'm very active on my school's newspaper staff, and things are looking as if I'll have the editor-in-chief title in my junior and senior years (probably). By graduation, I should have a major or minor degree (depending on whether I get the editor-in-chief position or not) in my school's acclaimed Visual Arts Academy. I put in a lot of hours into college art courses and by the time I'm a senior, will have had three exhibitions of my work at the LA Museum of Contemporary Art.

I haven't taken the SATs yet but with the crazy preparation I'm planning on doing, I think I'll end up getting decent scores.

So, bottom line: Do I have a good shot at getting into USC? (Or similar schools including NYU, Boston U, etc.?) I'm also very interested in places like Northwestern and UPenn but I know those are difficult places to get into. But even if I got into a place of that caliber I'd still go to USC if I got in, no question. Sorry this was so long. Advice would certainly be appreciated. Also, if this helps any... (because the truth is, it probably does) I'll be applying as as Black (I'm mixed with Asian).
