Could you please tell me my chances for getting into USC? I will be getting great reccs from my English teacher, and an actor. I aim to do law.

I don't know what all of these abbreviations stand for ASB, IMPACT, JSA, AYSO.

ASB= Associated Student Body (Student Government)
AYSO= Community Soccer Organization
JSA= Junior Statesmen of America (Debate Organization)
IMPACt= A freshman tutoring program.

Could anyone please tell me what they think my chances are?

Not a lot of people on this board are doing chancing these days, but I think you look like a good match for USC. Your GPA is match and your SAT and ECs look even better. Plus USC rewards NMS well and you have a great internship. If it turns out to be really meaningful, you might find it inspires an essay. And an extra letter of rec can't hurt, either.

At USC, like many universities, your major makes a big difference in chances. Some majors are super competitive, and some require extra submission and evidence of your talent. If you are thinking about CLAS, you'll be all right. Make sure to work hard on your essay to show what you are really excited about and best of luck.

GPA is a little low but everything else looks really good. Do good on your essays and you'll be good to go. Good Luck! :)

Oh, can I make a correction? I'm sorry but I misread your GPA the first time. Didn't realize the 3.79 was your weighted score. I must agree with Gabs that it is low (Avg. GPA for accepted students last year was 3.8), but it also depends on the high school you attend. USC knows the schools that are rigorouos and not grade inflated, so if that's the case with your school, you are in better shape. Do a lot of kids from your school in your grade range get accepted to USC?

Again, good luck.

Yes, my GPA is a bit low. My school is public, but extremely competitive, and is recognized in Southern California as a school offering rigorous courses. Quick question for you: is that average gpa statistic weighted, or unweighted? Oh, and also, I forgot to mention my major: business. I aim to do corporate law.

Thanks to both of you for your input, I really do appreciate it. :)

Try your best to get a 4.0 first semester senior year. It is possible that you had higher grades in social sciences (history, English) and lower grades in math/science. I mention this because if you want to be a business/pre-law major, maybe a possibly lower grade in Sciences won't matter (but I don't work for USC--just guessing on this one). Also, you can ask your high school counselor to compare your GPA with the kids in your school who were accepted to USC. Your high school should have some type of scattergram. You have a lot of excellent extra curriculars. Work on your essay. National Merit will be a plus.

The average GPA of 3.8 is an unweighted statistic.
