USC Class of 2017 Applicants!

Just talked to USC Admissions and they are not processing FAFSA yet, so no worries if it is not showing as received even though you submitted to FAFSA. And @camomof3 was indeed correct, it has nothing to do with merit scholarships coming up.

The Admissions Twitter account just posted a link to check the status of your application (the USConnect site). Maybe some applicants will be seeing changes in their statuses soon…

https://twitter.com/USCAdmission/status/293804144127524864

Hi, I asked a similar question a while ago but I did not receive a response. Will all applicants who applied before December 1st be notified (even those who don’t receive a scholarship)? Thanks.

^^ in the past, only those who were selected to interview for a Trustee/Pres/Mork scholarship (and some Dean’s recipients, who did not need to interview, but must have been really wanted by USC) heard back in late January/early Feb with acceptances. Everyone else who applied by Dec. 1 waited until late March to find out their decisions. So, no, not everyone will hear soon— if things go according to the past. This year is a new year, though, and we will know for sure soon.

Just to add a bit to camomof3’s response above, in recent years USC admissions has attempted to send a letter to each of the pre-Dec 1 applicants with a status update saying, in essence, that the Trustee/Presidential invitations had been sent and that all others not receiving that invitation (pause to sob here), are still very much in consideration for admission so please wait until end of March for notice. The trouble we’ve seen here on CC is that some kids, for whatever mailing mishap, do not receive anything in the mail–causing stress. Did they miss receiving their invitation or just miss receiving the sorry-no invite letter? Usually, all will be revealed by checking the USConnect portal which will open up an ExploreUSC tab for those who are supposed to RSVP to an Explore/interview session.

But basically, once those invitations go out, everyone else–from those who got your applications in before Dec 1 and those who got them in by the Jan 10 deadline are in the same pool for consideration and will be notified (if it is like last year) with a mailing (not online) at the end of March which reaches you across the country starting with L.A. and moving East.

The USC admissions twitter is such a tease. I’m becoming very anxious.

Oops! Sorry, didn’t mean to cause anyone anxiety about the online status thing. I just know that LAST YEAR kids who have received an acceptance letter IN THE MAIL ALREADY got this Explore USC option (not Meet USC) under events, because that was for their interview. But it sounds like nobody has this option or has received an acceptance package in the mail yet, so please don’t freak out(:

But on an entirely separate note, I am totally freaking out that we’ll find out soon soon soon.

Seriously! So cal students like me are gonna find out either end of this week or next week! Ahh im so scared that I cant function properly haha

It is truly agonizing. Lol especially since I live so close, I know that the letter is sooooo near.

same! i’ve been obsessing over this and have been checking my email/usconnect at least ten times a day -__-

Since we want it badly, I hope we all get it!

I’m waiting for my counselor to email me back about my problem not being able to log in USConnect and I’m sooooooo worried that I’ll have to go through ALL of Feb and nearly ALL of March without knowing ANYTHING about my status! :o

dang like everyone here is expecting a scholarship… people like me, who just applied early to apply early and only have 2070 SAT scores, STILL HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER JUST TO HOPEFULLY BE ACCEPTED :frowning: :frowning: :(

Oh, I also just applied early to apply early…I am not expecting anything at all! So…I will 99% be here with you for the wait until April…hahah

Anyone have any idea what stats would likely receive an invitation to be considered for a scholarship? I know that stats aren’t the only thing that matter if course but I’m still curious.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I really can’t do this wait anymore.

Like Im very sure Im not going to get a scholarship, but I mean GOD…I want to find out. Like the wait is so agonizing.

I mean this is where I want to be…USC…Im a trojan to the heart…the bone…

Like it is honestly ridiculous how many times I have been on campus and praying to God I get into that school.

My USC Application was crisp and clean, I made sure everything was PERFECT. I did an interview, toured the campus, and even stalked some Fb groups lol.

Ugh…is anyone feeling like me? Last night I had a dream I got into USC and UCLA, and I swear it felt SO REAL…I bet I was smiling while I was sleeping. Then ssomething woke me up from my dream and I realized I wasn’t looking at the Explore USC tab. -_-

Oh don’t worry I’m not expecting anything… I mean I hope for a scholarship but I don’t think I’ll get one. My brother is pretty much a genius and he got the half tuition one. But I got a 31 ACT/ 2050 SAT, and my weighted GPA is 4.088. I didn’t have a huge list of extracurriculars but the ones I do take up a lot of time and I’ve been doing for a while. I think I had a good essay and some nice recommendations, but I don’t think it’s enough for a scholarship. So I’m just hoping  But I mean, I applied early to get it done but of course I’ll hope for a scholarship. Good luck to all of y’all, seems like a great group of students :D

Realizing that we’ll either be really happy or really sad next week makes me SO nervous! (For scholarship applicants) GAH

It’s so weird! I have nearly the same thinking as some of you guys! I have good essays, decent ECs (not a lot, but it’s the quality that counts right? lol), good recs, but I really don’t think it’s good enough for a scholarship. I hope I’m good enough for the Dean or some other small scholarship. I hope all of us have happy faces next week! :D

In college admissions there are students who are admitted and those who actually attend. In nearly all cases the admitted students have higher scores than those who choose a college. Last year the Middle 50% SAT Composite for SC admitted seniors was: 2030-2250.

Private/Independent Schools Most Represented in the Class Entering in Fall of 2012 Were:

Harvard-Westlake
Punahou School
Loyola H.S.-Los Angeles
Oaks Christian
Taipei American School
The Harker School
Chaminade College Prep
