USC Class of 2017 Applicants!

It depends what they count as the 95th percentile.
For the individual sections: math-720
Critical reading- 700, writing-690.
If you add those totals, Thats a 2110. Which is scary.

But, the 95th percentile for the total or composite SAT scores is a 2040. Which is less scary.

So, I wonder which one they count as the 95th percentile.

@maxmillion: hate to say it but i think its the first one - considering that its the best class in USC history

@midtriplet

I hope it gets to Seattle by tomorrow! I’m leaving Thursday :O

I think it depends how you quantify “best”

I think admissions selections the past couple years have shown you need more than test scores to be competitive

Do you guys know if USC counts the superscore as your best SAT score? If someone could let me know, I’d appreciate it. Thank you

I wish they would put it online tomorrow so we could all see at the same time:/

^ Yeah I would like it better if they posted online first then send out the mail like other schools, but oh well. I guess sending out the mail first carries more suspense. lol :p

Does anyone have any idea why Usc accepted more than double the number of applicants they accepted last year? Last year they accepted around 4,000 out of around 43,000 and this year they accepted around 9, 000 out of around 45,000?

Does anyone receive the email notification from DHL? I heard that admitted student all received it last few years.

They admitted the same amount of people they do every year.

They admit at least 8000 people for 4000 spots.

^^ oh I see thanks for clearing that

Some answers…

SC takes your best score, whether it is the ACT or the SAT. They do take the best score on the SAT from your tests taken. They do not superscore the ACT.

Last year SC admitted 187 more than they did this year, if the early numbers prove to be accurate. There are some who appeal. Also, last year SC had 46,104 applicants for the freshmen class. This year there were 47,800 according to the NYTimes. The admissions dean stated there are around 8,000 applications to transfer to SC. Those decisions will be released later on or before June 1.

It is my understanding SC feels it is more personal to send a letter of admission rather than finding it online. I find it kinder to receive a formal letter of regret rather than an online denial.
SC looks at the ENTIRE application. It is not all about scores. We know from other years there are students who were admitted after overcoming tremendous physical or economic challenges. Last year we discovered an accomplished new freshman was totally blind and used a braille reader in high school. A recent SC senior graduated with a double major. He had no hands or feet. One of the band members played, but did not march as he had a neurological disease.

Through the years I have spoken with admission representatives. EVERY individual remarked all applications are read…every word.

Do you think San Diego will get letters tomorrow?

When do you all think New England will recieve the mail? Any chance for Thursday?

In the scholarship letter USC sent them to applicants back in Jan, they indicated that they will take around 9000 applicants this cycle. Hope that is a good sign.

do you think chicago will receive letters today or tomorrow?

I did read somewhere that they are posting priority which means everyone throughout the US will get within 2-3 days.

this link is a screen shot of what USC Connect is suppose to look like after Friday @ 12:30 PM–for the lucky accepted students. http://oi44.■■■■■■■.com/239q9c.jpg
