Is it unusual to have a low test score, yet a high GPA?

@CuriousJDG9513
How low do you mean by ālow test scoreā?
Becauseā¦I have a relatively high gpa with a weaker SAT/ACT score.
SO I guess itās not too unusual. And also, I didnāt do as well as I wanted to on my subject tests, so I didnāt submit them. Do you think subject tests are important? Did you guys submit subject test scores?

^^I didnāt even take them.

to reply to post #100, USC said it was not necessary, but helps āwhen evaluating for merit scholarships.ā Since I got two 800s and one 790, that pretty much meant āsend them in because it will help youā

Only took one subject test, Math II, and I got a 780 on that so of course I sent that in. Itās also pretty funny because it is 40 points higher than what I got for the math section on the standard SAT.

When I visited in late October, I asked about taking subject tests and an admissions officer said they wonāt hurt, but that it would be āa waste of a Saturday.ā Which was weird, because it contradicted what I read on their website, that they help with merit scholarships.

I took 3 of them and ended up putting them on my application and resume but didnāt send the official score report.

Well, I have a 3.86 UW GPA but a 1590 SAT and a 24 ACT. I was wondering since I have lower test scores but a good GPA if it would decrease my chances.
I took 3 subject tests: math, English literature, and US history. I got a 710 on US. history, 560 on English literature, and a 480 on math 2. I scored higher on math in the standard SAT. lol I sent my scores in because of ny highest score. I donāt think college board let me choose, it just sent all of them. :)

Your stats are fairly similar to mine! I really hope we both get in!!

Shouldnāt people start getting notified soon if they qualify for scholarships?

Scholarship notifications wonāt be out for about two more weeks.

Hey guys,

I applied by the scholarship deadline and I was wonderingā¦
If we get accepted in late January, do we get acceptance notification via email or mail?

Acceptance by USC is a formal letter of admission. It is enclosed in a packet, which also includes a certificate of admission. The packet is sent via the U.S.P.S.

Be sure the university has your current mailing address if you have moved during the last admissions season.

Admitted seniors with Los Angeles zip codes usually receive packets first. It is always exciting for volunteers on the board to read the comments of the newly accepted students to USC.

Will the scholarship notification or invitation to interview for a scholarship be included with the admission letter or is that mailed separately?

I am a NM finalist. My understanding is that I am qualified to receive the half tuition scholarship. What are the chances of being bumped up to full tuition?

Iām very excited for the next couple of weeks. Iām worried that I might have to wait until the end of March to know my decision because I donāt have a portal to check my status. I am hoping to get at least a Dean or a any other scholarship. I know Iām not top notch to get the presidential/trustee scholarships. lol Good luck to everybody and I hope we all hear good new in a couple of weeks! :)

Hey everyone - Iām new to this whole thing but have reading up on some stuff like you guys. I applied to USC in early November so Iām in it for the scholarship running. I donāt think Iāll get a scholarship, Iām hoping to god i get into the college.

I was under the impression that if you applied by Dec. 1st, but didnāt get a merit scholarship, you wouldnāt find out until April 1st. Essentially, only those who get scholarships get notified early. That said, USC released a statement via the admissions twitter handle that said āAll first-year applicants who applied by Dec 1 will be notified of their admission status by late January.ā I would tend to believe the twitter post, but then again-itās twitter. Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks!

i appliedā¦ now i gotta count days to my rejection :(

Applicant100, See this blog post for more information: [I Submitted by December 1st, Now What?! Undergraduate Admission Blog](http://admissionblog.usc.edu/2013/01/15/i-submitted-by-december-1st-now-what/)

Sounds like if you applied by December 10 you will either receive an acceptance letter with scholarship information or a letter saying you did not receive a scholarship but are still being considered for admission.

Bummer! Iām not really in the running for any scholarships so I figured I would only hear by April. Then I saw the Twitter post and thought maybe I would find out one way or another earlier even without the scholarship, but now I will slink back into my April 1st notification hole hahah

I thought it was gona be mid Jan

āWith that being said, you will receive one of two possible letters in the beginning of February:ā

O well

so if the scholarship requires an interview and you get that you are in right?
