Mailed 3/26, online 3/29.

USC scholarship notification is on line via USConnect this morning. DS received the Presidential Scholarship.

OMG! My S got a Presidential Scholarship to Viterbi.

According to previous threads, if you live in CA, you will get your decision on March 27 (assuming that they are mailed on 3/26). Last year, according to previous threads, all OOS applicant who posted got decisions on the 28th.

Pay attention to the applicant’s location and date received.

My daughter is interested in pursuing Theatre at USC and is of course looking for any potential positive signs that may indicate an acceptance. For example, her Financial Aid page lists her major as Theatre now versus no info, and she also just received an Invitation to attend a School of Dramatic Arts “Open House” in April. On one hand, this could mean nothing… but on the other hand, inviting applicants who will not be admitted on March 29th to an “Open House” afterwards, could be perceived as slightly cruel. Any thoughts?

Congratulations WWWard! It’s a good sign: <a href=“USC School of Dramatic Arts invitation - Theater/Drama Majors - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/1476870-usc-school-of-dramatic-arts-invitation-p1.html

five more days until they are posted online :-SS

Thanks, arwarw! Yes… the thread you suggested does seem to indicate that it is. Well - this is the critical week, with decisions on Thursday and Saturday (USC) that will determine her future path. Very exciting!

Just out of curiosity, what’s everyone’s progress on the financial aid status? I’m at “Application in Review - Pending, no action required”.

What time will decisions be available online on March 29?

12 PT

Thanks!

@dontrejectme, mine is in review as well - but taxes haven’t been filed returned yet so we cant complete it yet -just waiting on the IRS.

As far as the FA status major thing, that was just resolved as a possible glitch that doesn’t mean anything solid (according to a tweet by USCadmin)

@USCAdmission when I go to my FA portal on usc connect, now under my name it shows Class & Major. Does that mean anything?

USC Admission @USCAdmission 1h
Hi @Neutrinoflaer Unfortunately, it does not. Adm decisions will be mailed on 3/26 and posted on USConnect by 3/29. http://ow.ly/uVh04

My D’s financial aid status is also “Application in Review - Pending, no action required”. One change today though is that it no longer says Undergraduate - Major: Theatre like it did this morning. That info has now been removed…

WWWard, in the past, USC School of Dramatic Arts ONLY invites new admits to the Theatre Open House in early April. As you deduced, it would be not be kind to send those invites and then deny admission. Hope you get the good news officially soon. I’ll also weigh in that it would appear from reading the tea leaves and checking the posts here on CC that the glitch may have been revealing decisions. I think it is always wisest to wait for confirmation, however just reading WWWard’s D had the major listed (before it was disappeared) and was also invited to the Theatre Open House would tend to persuade me there was something up with those FA changes. If there is anyone out there who had been already admitted (merit awardees) or with a very significant hint like WWWard’s D and did NOT list a major and Undergrad, I’d like to know. I’m trying to be realistic, but I know that such hints (and denials) if they turn out to be accurate will be very bitter for many applicants. Having watched these boards for many years, I know every student will find a good home… yet these are the toughest days of all. Best of luck and I really hope my guess is wrong.

Thanks, madbean. Yes… tough days indeed. My D has 6 pending decisions on Thursday and then of course she will also learn the USC decision on Saturday. I will be sure to confirm one way or the other on Saturday. I am all in favor of helping future applicants to decipher the various signals that each school sends out… whether overtly or inadvertently Good luck to all applicants this cycle. I also hope that every applicant finds a school they can be truly inspired about attending…

I’ll also mention that getting invited to the Theatre Open House does not distinguish between BFA admits and BA admits, so WWWard if your D auditioned for the BFA, I just wanted to make sure to mention that some BFAs are admitted as BAs (if they listed they would like to be considered for both at the audition date).

@WWWard Apparently it doesn’t mean anything

Edit: Sorry, just realized @Understated already said this.

Thanks. My D only applied as BA Theatre… which is what the FA portal had referenced until earlier today. The commonality though seems to be that an Invite = admitted… so we certainly just hope that proves to be true. We are all trying to remain cautiously optimistic.

I know from personal experience though that mistakes can be made. When I was a HS Senior… in the days of snail mail only… I actually received the dream scenario Ivy admit that I was hoping for, only to receive an apology letter 2 days later explaining that an error had been made… and that the admit packet should have only been a letter explaining that I had been Wait-Listed. Clearly that was a huge error – one that I have never forgotten. But I ended up attending my 3rd choice school and all’s well that ends well.

To her credit, she is simply trying to just stay calm until something official is received or seen… which is of course hard. But HS Seniors do at least have more inherent distractions than us parents… lol. She actually has her State Theatre Festival / Competition Wed-Sat to keep her pre-occupied this week. The wait is in many ways much harder on us…

But alas… D-Day is rapidly approaching. Now less than 5 days away…

Thanks, cantooo… and I think now that FA is removing it for just that reason. But hopefully the invite does still mean something…
