The latest form of communication I recieved from USC was that financial aid brochure. Haven’t gotten a request for mid-year grades and they won’t be available for me until the end of January so…

Ditto above. Just some Financial aid brochures and a flyer in the mail yesterday reminding us of Financial Aid deadlines.

I got the financial aid brochure too, I think everyone got them.

I have been emailing back and forth with the lady who interviewed me, and I have been emailing my territory manager(ie updating them on big extracurriculars etc). Helps to put your name out there.

Only a couple more weeks until scholarship decisions/considerations! I want USC so badly!

I am also with the crowd the received the financial aid booklet and no request for midyear grades. It’s so hard to wait for the decision haha. Everytime something from USC comes in the mail I rush to open it hoping it’s the acceptance letter. Oh well, only a few more weeks until some closure. I’m hoping National Merit helps! Anyone else a National Merit Semifinalist/Finalist waiting for a decision? I heard if accepted, the tuition is halved.

Will we get notified even if we do not receive a scholarship?

Yes, everyone who is no longer in the running for one of the larger scholarships (Trustee, Presidential, Stamps, Mork) will be notified late January/early February.

So, the closer you live to the campus, the sooner you receive a letter in the mail? You can check online as well can’t you?

A bit of confusing info here. If you do not get a scholarship you will get a letter saying you did not get a scholarship, but it does not tell you if you were accepted or not. Please do not think that everyone that applies by December 1st finds out if they are accepted during the scholarship notifications. That mis-information goes around every year. If you don’t get a scholarship, you then find out along with the mass mailing usually in March/April. Madbean has the best thread ever about notification, please read that.

Thank you CADREAMIN!

How do you enter full year courses and grades on the supplement because it has a three semester format?

National Merit Scholars who are ADMITTED and place SC first on the NM form (this can be done in late April) …and enroll are given a half tuition scholarship. In addition, these scholars receive a $1000 per year NMFoundation Scholarship. To keep the scholarship students must maintain a certain GPA and take 16 units per semester.

In some cases other small scholarships can be added to these. Some are memorial, alumni, corporate or individual school scholarships.

You’re welcome ShortsSports. I know many students this year that are already buzzing that they find out if they get into USC in January or early February because they applied by December 1st. Wrong. Ugh, they wait and wait at the mailbox this month, get that “no scholarship letter” and are in shock they have to wait another 2 months to find out if they are in. Brutal. Would be ok if they knew it was likely to be March/April all along. They could do a better job communicating that process.

^ I don’t remember USC ever mentioning notifying students about acceptances/rejections earlier than late March when either of my kids applied. The only reason I knew they might hear earlier was because of this USC forum on CC.

It has been clearly mentioned on numerous threads here that the vast majority of students (all but the lucky 1,000ish) will NOT hear back about admissions until March.

My best friend’s daughter and the several others at the local high school were sure they heard back in the next couple weeks and that is why they applied by December 1st. They don’t think they are getting a scholarship, they just wanted to find out about admission early…So the kids are confused. And these are typically “process educated” folks, but they missed this one. If on cc, it is easier to keep straight, but most people aren’t.

I looked at last year’s thread, and the first person to receive a letter of scholarship consideration posted the results on the 24th. I heard it’s gonna be later this year, but just knowing that there’s only about a little more than a week left is really unsettling.

I got an email tonight about applying for the Topping Scholarship. Anyone else? Does it mean anything?

Same as rundancelove. I just got an e-mail about Topping tonight as well. I’m really anxious about it… D: Does it mean anything?!

The Norman Topping fund is the only university scholarship fund established by students, funded by students and partially run by students at USC. It was established to assist students with financial need who have shown leadership in their communities.

Juniors and senior Topping Scholars mentor freshmen and help in the adjustment to college life. There is information on the USC website regarding the Topping Scholarships.

If you have been selected to apply this is another opportunity to be awarded scholarship funds, if chosen. These are grants----not loans.

Apart from it being an opportunity to get funds- does it mean anything towards admission? I applied by the Dec 1 deadline

Are both of you first-gen or live near USC?
