I got into Marshall…but I can’t go paying sticker price :(

Some have posted surprise at getting into USC and being rejected by UCLA. From our (large, highly ranked, public) high school in IL, UCLA is much more competitive than USC.

Too afraid to check USConnect…I’m still hoping for an acceptance to arrive here in Europe sometime next week.

Rejected. Good luck to everyone else.

@gamergal27 I just wanted to try to provide a possible explanation for those who are baffled about their rejections but didn’t want in anyway.

@scahopeful Those who are rejected most likely are just saying that as a way to cope with the decision. This is the time to be kind.

Had to wait 8 hours till I got home. I played a really mellow song as I walked/ran the last few steps to my house from the bus stop. I burst through my door, tried to compose myself as I walked towards the kitchen table…nothing.

started convincing myself that wesleyan was the best!!! woke up this morning, decided to go through all my mail looking for wesleyan papers, went downstairs to take a shower, BOOM, A HUGE YELLOW PACKAGE FROM CALIFORNIA THAT MY DAD TOOK OUT WITH HIM WAS ON THE TABLE!!! SCHOOL OF CINEMATIC ARTS 2018

(only appropriate that I give a melodramatic story amirite)

I had the appeal admissions tab and all of that. so excited!!!

@joysundayo Congrats! I can feel your happiness!

OH MY GOD!! I got accepted into the World Bachelor in Business!! I would have NEVER though i would get accepted. I literally got rejected EVERYWHERE except Boston College. I will definitely attend! Congrats to everyone else that got accepted! Has anyone else gotten accepted to the WBB???

@RCLVRR congratulations! Have you checked out this thread with other students who got in the WBB program? >> http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1589970-official-wbb-class-of-2018-thread.html#latest

my classmates got their acceptance letters in the mail yesterday, but i didn’t receive anything and the website has no news. any hope?!

congrats to all who have gotten in so far!

@bacapal It’s not the test scores, likely. There are close to 50,000 applications this time. More than last year. That means that USC was sending out tens of thousands of rejections to applicants who had similar or even higher stats.

Colleges are trying to build a “class” that is unique. In a different year you might have made the cut. I just reviewed my own alma mater’s stats. Just over 7% acceptance rate. That meant a lot of valedictorians with great EC’s were turned down. Including some I wrote strong reports for. Just not enough room “at the inn.” But I also know students with lower stats (but still high percentile) were accepted because they are equally able to do the work. That why I suspect your ACT score had nothing to do with your results. You’re still in the range of accepted students.

Love the college that accepted you. It isn’t the college that will determine your fate. Only you and how you use the resources presented. Good luck!

Rejected- 34 ACT, NMF, athlete, president of the art club, editor of the literary magazine, etc. I was actually rejected almost everywhere…

@ArtsandLetters Yeah I know, there are plenty of qualified applicants and I know I had a shot. I saw that I was in the range, that’s why I thought my ACT had nothing to do with it. It’s just tough because I know I couldn’t have possibly done any more in my school or community but I still got rejected. I would be fine with the decision, but I got rejected from the three colleges I wanted to go to most and have been accepted to the ones I only planned as backups.

UCLA vs USC

Is UCLA more difficult to get in? Why are USC entering class stats higher? How does that make sense?
Something to do with private vs public?

^rgosula, if you’re referring to the SAT scores, the difference is the UC’s do not superscore, while USC does. UC will take the highest single test date score, but will not take the highest reading, math, writing scores across all test dates.

Could it be that UCLA takes more in state students? We are out of state and my daughter got into USC but not UCLA. She did get in to UCSD and UCSB, though.

Got rejected. Took 6 AP classes sophomore year, 7 junior year, 6 senior year. Got a 32 on ACT, 800 on SAT math 2, ranked 1/489 in my school (never got a B in my life). Good luck to everyone else going!

lol, probably it’s because I’m a typical Asian male. I thought my CA essay and supplements were pretty good too…oh well. I’m from a little town in West Texas too…maybe that’s why

@OOPSS That’s just crazy! But as we say in Arkansas (and probably Texas), it’s best to “dance with the one who brung you.” Meaning the place that recognizes your accomplishments and success is the best fit. I know you will shine and love it wherever you land.
