@Abwee67 under “check the status of your financial aid application”. I have done both the FAFSA and CSS.
@Abwee67 it’s USC’s portal they should have sent you an email about how to create it
@chubii yes I have the portal set up, I just got a bit confused for a second. Haha thanks though!
@chukrook Thanks!
@Abwee67 I’m honestly dreading it because I know my chance of receiving a scholarship is slim. I’m also kinda freaking out because I applied for a Lambda LGBTQ scholarship and if I get into USC and am awarded the scholarship, I’d have to travel to USC in May for the ceremony… And my parents have no idea that I’m gay and have applied for these scholarships or formed and become president of my school’s LGBTQ Alliance or worked with the district school board to make bullying policies queer inclusive… I’m screwed, y’all.
@pterosprite oooh… I’m rooting for you!! <3
@pterosprite Good luck! I am hoping they are accepting of who you are! Even if youre stressed, I hope everything works out in your favor!!
Hey everybody!!
Is anybody applying for an engineering major??!??
I’m applying for comp sci
@Indijat - I did!
Is there an exact date scholarship info will be mailed out? Does anyone know if it’s usually early, mid, or late February?
If they follow the same schedule they had last year, they should be mailed out Friday, January 22nd
Of course, the date could very well change. People closer to the school will receive first, so if you live further away, be prepared to wait a week or so after they are mailed.
Edit: I should say though, just because someone in your state received a letter and you have not, that does not mean you will not receive merit. Mail is weird sometimes, so it could take longer to get to you than it does your neighbor. Everyone will receive notificatiom, even if you do not qualify for merit, so don’t count yourself out until you get the notice!
How do they decide who gets selected for a scholarship interview? If my SAT score isn’t that high, then am I automatically disqualified?
@collegecurious15 I’ve been pouring through a ton of old threads and it seems like they look for the “wow” factor, initiative to create, research, organize in a field of interest, overcome challenging circumstances, etc. With that being said, however, GPA and test scores are probably still very important. But don’t confuse “low test scores” with “low of USC.” I’m in the same boat, so I know how you feel
I’ve been so stressed about merit scholarship decisions that my doctor says the stress is what’s causing the pain in my jaw. OOPs. Good luck to everyone here. We could all use it.
I know it’s the nature of everyone on this site (including myself) to stress about college apps to an unhealthy point, but y’all, take it easy. Treat yourself to a bubble bath on Sunday night, watch an episode of Parks and Rec, or get together with a group of friends, have a bonfire, and and roast s’mores over the flames of those college brochures that you’ve accumulated. Decide what your dorm decorations are gonna look like. I probably visit this thread eight times a day so I’m one to talk, but try to leave it. Or focus on the college acceptances you have received, even if you can’t really see yourself going there. Join the facebook page and read the posts of all the potential roommates who aren’t actually potential roommates.
Howabout we just talk about dorm decorations instead okay. I’m going for a lowkey outerspace theme-- some glow in the dark stars, my X-Files “I want to Believe” poster, a string craft with all the phases of the moon hung out (and text overlaying the white part with Sagan’s “Pale Blue Dot”), and I’m deciding between two wall decals. One says “Good Vibes Only” and the other has a little alien face and says “Stay Chill.” Dorm decorations are far less stressful than college applications.
Wow I haven’t even thought about dorm decorations and I’m super excited now! :0
I like you, @pterosprite .
@Amrfootball aw, thanks!
@pterosprite - Oh my god, the string craft with all the phases of the moon (+pale blue dot) is brilliant. Might have to steal that.
