has anyone finished?
also, what school within USC did everyone apply/appeal to?
I finished my letter the day after decisions came out and I applied for undecided (dornsife) this time. My first choice major (biomed) is wayyy to competitive.
I’m sorry I don’t want to sound stupid but what is a cover sheet? Do I just make a Google Document and list my name, ID number, and name/location of my school?
Just submitted my appeal for USC Viterbi. For those of you who don’t know what to write about, just talk about the stuff you did since applying. For example, since I applied, my robot for the Vex robotics league is one of the top in the world(out of 10,000+ teams). I’m also going to be a student ambassador for the US at the robotics world championships, and I upped my gpa to an A+ average. So wrote about those things and why I think they prepared me to study at USC.
submitted mine yesterday time 2 get rejected again
@jhetzel Extremely impressive. Good luck in your appeal and keep us informed.
do you think it’s okay I made mine size 11, times new roman, single spaced? I had a lot to say ugh
Sure, that is fine @sprinkle. One page, however you format is fine - as long as they don’t need a magnifying glass to read it - 11 pt is certainly acceptable.
Are you guys just writing about what you’ve done since submitting the app?
@samc24 no, explaining more the things on the application or the reason for some lacking areas
Is it okay if it is 1.3 pages?
I honestly like my appeal letter more than my common app essay lol
@cc2080
As Pascal said, “I have made this longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter.”
Which was followed by many version’s of the quote, including Ben Franklin who said, “I have already made this paper too long, for which I must crave pardon, not having now time to make it shorter.”
Which was then said this way by Mark Twain, “If I had more time I would write a shorter letter.”
They asked for one page. I would tend to follow the directions of their request, but at the same time, don’t think they will instantly reject it because of it.
They get over 1,000 appeals, and past history shows they accepted about 20 that are admitted for fall or spring admission. Have hope, but also be making other plans to love another school. Good luck, but don’t let this process keep you from moving forward with statistics like that.
@sprinkle what did you write about?
Do you think it’s too much for me to talk about my living situation at home? I mentioned that recently my family had to move to a smaller house due to our finances and how I didn’t have a room. I talked about the difficulty I had focusing/studying and how it affected my grades and how i learned to deal with it and my dedication to usc etc @CC2080
@sprinkle I think that it is fine as long as you didn’t over dramatize it. I also mentioned my parents divorce and how it affected my gpa but I didn’t mention it too much. It is good that you talked about how you learned to deal with it. I think they would like to know how you can deal with the hard things going on in your personal life. I think it’s good since you relate it to your dedication to usc. Best of luckk
Lol I also got rejected from Iovine and Young Academy but now I asked to be considered for a different major. @sprinkle
Does anyone know of any successful appeals/what they talked about in the appeal?
