***USC Class of 2021 Discussion/Results Thread***

@xeno2017 Colorado is in 3 day shipping from USC so we shouldn’t receive it until Monday but if thats not true then the mailman has already visited Boulder if that helps at all?

south jersey nothing here. saw someone post earlier they were from bergen county and got a package

@sjl1826 yea i really can’t see any other explanation. it seems far to reject that many top students just as an attempt to protect yield rate or whatever. but for NMFs, it just seems even unethical to offer this half tuition scholarship and then go on to reject people who are more than qualified to attend. if you’re going to attract all the NMFs to apply and then pick and choose the ones that you want, why not just turn these scholarships into standard presidential/trustee scholarships?

@mnemom Yes, she did. Sorry, that probably wasn’t clear in that post, I have been around here for years with 4 college kids, 2 that go/went to USC, another school, and now this one.

This is the end of my college application era. WOOOOOHOOOOO!

(I know it’s their application process, but c’mon we all know how much is on parents)

@DreamforIvy Cool, hopefully Tucson is a 3-day. Congrats!

I got nothing in the mail today. I live in Chicago and It’s suppose to be a two day delivery zone form LA. However, I did log into twitter and saw that some girl from the north side of Chicago got in. So I am taking this as an L. Anyone else from the Chicago land area on this thread?

@momof3co I live in SE Aurora and received it around 12 pm today. Hope that helps! I am sure you will get it soon

I live in central california. The mailman just came and there was no package. Hello darkness my old friend.

@sebas962 I’m from the south side of Chicago and got the package. I usually get my mail around 5, but today it came around noon. It can depend on your mailman. Hopefully, you get it.

Where on the portal are the decisions supposed to be posted tonight? Just login in to youSC? And do we know they will be posted at midnight? Online it just says “Please be aware that all final admission decisions are sent via postal mail.” It doesn’t say anything about the portal being updated at midnight…

@Emsmom1 just log into youUSC. We know it’s midnight from past years I think.

Summer Activities: Spent 2 weeks in sophomore year taking Spanish classes at a school in Malaga, Spain, and mostly just worked as a snack bar attendant
Essays (rating 1-10, details):: I would say a 9, only because some people said I didn’t really address the prompt. My writing was excellent, but my story focused on how I was dumped by a guy and that inspired me to write a play that I ended up producing at my school. I used humor and was very open about how I felt about my first teenage heartbreak. It was in response to the prompt on failure, and whether or not it really answered the prompt, it apparently worked!
Teacher Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):: Idk about one of my recommendations, but my Spanish teacher let me read his and it was absolutely amazing. I’m really good friends with him and his letter was so nice, I really credit him with getting me into the private schools I applied to.
Counselor Rec (rating 1-10, details):: No idea.
Additional Rec (rating 1-10, details):: N/A
Interview: I think it went well. I was nervous af, but the lady was nice. We had a good discussion about how hard it is to have political conversations with super-conservative parents, which was an experience we had in common.

** Other **
Applied for Financial Aid? Nope and I’m regretting it so much rn. Should’ve at least tried for loans.
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: 250k+, but parents don’t want to pay full tuition here :frowning:
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Nope.

** Reflection **
Strengths: My letters of recommendation, my test scores/grades, my extracurriculars
Weaknesses: Not a ton of community service, barely anything that related to my major
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I was genuine in my essay and wrote on a topic that most people tell you to avoid–teenage heartbreak. As long as what you experienced had a real effect on who you are as a person, it’s a good topic for an essay!
Where else you are applying or have already applied: Accepted: UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, SDSU, Boston University, Waitlisted: UCSD, Cal Poly, Rejected: UCLA, Waiting to hear from UC Berkeley
General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Thought since I was rejected from UCLA that I would have no chance at USC, but I was wrong! Don’t let rejections get you down. Trojans are cooler than Bruins anyway.

Anyone in Boston!!!

thank you! did you get in? If so congrats!

Has anyone received a rejection via email or mail?
