I haven’t gotten anything yet… I’m from Brooklyn. Hoping it’s just taking longer to mail… guess I’ll see on the portal tonight!!
is it updating right at 12am PST?
@sprinkle I live in NYC… haven’t heard anything! Waiting till 3 am…
@SV94085 Don’t forget test scores aren’t the only thing colleges look at.
@westcoasthopeful yes, received our rejection already in San Diego
@mmardiks17 same!! so confused as to why i received absolutely nothing in the mail today… guess we will check at 3 am EST!
@SV94085 @idroppedthebeat But a majority of those admits were URMs, with decent GPAs.
I’m gonna set an alarm for 2 am tonight just so I can see my decision
yep manhattan- downtown @sprinkle
@sv94085 - It’s a tiny sample and think about it - kids that are more surprised about getting in themselves (the lower 25% you mention) are more likely to post about it right away. Over time, that thread evens out across all spectrums. But also, stats are important, but at USC a lot of other things come into play.
Also that’s 10 kids that posted, I think we need a few more of the almost 9,000 admitted to call it a trend. Sometimes we only see what we want to see on days like this, I totally get that.
Holy Ra I got in. Sweet mother of God I got in. I have no idea how!
Accepted major: Political Science
UW GPA: 3.89 W GPA: 4.054
APs: Comp Govt, World History (4), US History (5), Language & Comp (5), Lit
SAT I: 1950 (low end)
SAT II: Literature (710) and US History (750)
Lots of leadership activities as ECs including Model UN.
I’m absolutely astounded.
i hope the mail system just was slow all over the country lol
Well… the spectrum of admitted and rejected students is all over the stats map in reality. USC rejected 3000+ applicants with 99th percentile test scores, for example.
Since I assume a rejection (no box arrived in FL today) for my daughter, there is no way that I will suggest that she ever review this thread. Some of the acceptances with much lower stats would really depress her… as USC is her top choice school by far. But stats of course do not tell the entire story of an applicants’s profile or admissions package, and I personally do not begrudge anyone who gains admission to an elite school.
Embrace it and rejoice. Congrats on your accomplishments. But now that you are taking one of those spots (if you enroll… and remember 66% on average of all admits to USC do not enroll), please do endeavor to make the most of it. Go there and do great… because it is a great school… and you should not squander the opportunity before you. Just remember that 47,000 fellow applicants are getting denied admission this week.
So seize the chance… and Fight On!
I think moderator is combining threads because I had accidentally started a second one and asked them merge them, it will return.
No box in MA so assuming rejection. Not as sad as I thought I would be but maybe it’s because I’m still holding onto some hope for 3AM? Oh well. Congrats to all of the accepted students. USC is pretty great.
I live in a two day zone and did not receive anything, but my post office closed at 11AM EST today… Is it possible the package just did arrive at the post office on time?
@Jslam321 I hope that’s the case for both of us, but we will find out tonight I guess. Best of luck!
If we didn’t get an acceptance, I wouldn’t be able to let go till I saw the portal either @jglover.
shout out to @jmek15 thanks for the 'grats - pretty shocked, well, you know. It’s an unpredictable place!
@transmitter2342 Best of luck to you too!
@Jslam321 thank you!!
