USC Class of 2022

@CADREAMIN if my son has NMF but also interviewed for Presidential and received notification of award of same today, will that “override” the NMF, or will the NMF override the Presidential? I think the “perks” (e.g., McCarthy) and payment 1/2 tuition are same, but sounds like you saying must renew with NMSC every year if the NMF takes precedence. Any other diffs you’re aware of?

Norcal will be tomorrow. Fo sho. Always hope they get up here day 1, but they just don’t. And I think enough kids are home from school by now to know if one showed up here. Seems not.

Some ppl in my town got their acceptances yet i got nothing. What does this mean

Literally shocked at my acceptance… put “Do what I want- Lil Uzi Vert” as my favourite song LOL

@edszebra congrats!

@edszebra omg so happy for you!!! Congrats - isn’t the mailbox moment the best?!! I know, so much angst before, but glad you had your moment - tears and all!

@edszebra you’re one of the few with an actual person profile pic in here (maybe you maybe not? 8-), so i recognize your posts more than most others. :sunglasses: i was rooting for you to get accepted. congrats!

@jj1999 No. They got sent out to the same main facility at the same time. After that, they travel to your specific post office and at that point, that post office is responsible for when it gets sent out to you. Some post offices work faster than others

Anyone get an acceptance to the Marshall School of Business? I’m in OC. Mail hasn’t arrived yet.

Is there still hope if i didnt get anything then?

I have a good feeling about USC for me. I don’t know why. I’m most likely getting my hopes up for nothing at this point. I’m in Day two zone but will be away tomorrow so I will have to wait until Monday night to see if I got accepted or not. My dad says he might tell me if I get it tomorrow but he might not tell me too. I’m so nervous!

For those accepted please post stats!

I’m really surprised at my acceptance! I applied on a whim two hours before the application deadline, I’m really glad I did so  I live in LA County, around 1hr 30 min away from the school, accepted into Marshall. 1510SAT 3.7UW

Does USPS track rejection letters? I called and they said I had nothing coming from USC, so is that for sure a rejection? I live in west hollywood/beverly hills in LA

My Daughter got her acceptance today. We live in Long Beach, CA
Bioengineering.

have people gotten their rejection letters yet?

@ep18 but some people at my school got their letters of acceptances, but I have yet to hear a rejection. Should I lose hope? Sorry I"m just worried

@kevbostic That’s a great question. I think you should be sure to clarify with admissions, but to give you some lead on questions to ask…There can be other financial benefits of NMF - NMFs sometimes get a one time $2500 additional from the NMSF, but I believe all NMFs are offered another $1,000 per year University scholarship from USC. You can only choose one of these if they apply to you. There can also be departmental awards per @“Georgia Girl”

I am plagiarizing what follows from a post made awhile back…I had it in my notes…

If a USC bound NMF is awarded one of the one time $2500 NMF scholarships, they CAN decline them AND then be eligible to receive the $ 1000/ per year scholarship, in addition to the 1/2 tuition NMF scholarship provided by USC.

No one receives BOTH the USC provided NMF $1000/ year AND the $2500 from NMC.
Students have to choose which NMF award to accept.

If you go to National Merit Corporation website, it will state it in more detail. Briefly, among the 15000 NMF, only 2500 will be chosen as the National Merit Scholarship winners. The award is a one time $2500 (one time) and I think the award has to be used for the first choice college you selected. But if you are not chosen for this one time award, USC will award you $1000/year for 4 years (it is called National Merit Scholarship on our USC bill). So, it was actually better in my S’s case to not be chosen for the one-time $2500 award since he ended up getting $4000 (total in 4 years). Also, as mentioned, USC also gave my S (and presumably other scholarship students) a $2000/year University Scholarship, which I found out that is also renewable for 4 years.

Trustee scholars who are also NMF’s can receive the additional $1000/ year to pay for books bought at the USC bookstore, additional lab fees, meals charged to meal plans - basically ANYTHING that is charged to their USC bursors acct.

@WWWard @CADREAMIN @kevbostic thank you all! This is literally the best day of my life lol

To everyone, this just shows that one college’s decision doesn’t reflect another. I was rejected at UCLA but who cares because I got into USC!!

rejected from UCLA too hoping to have a similar situation!!! I find out tomorrow tho.
