There would be a post by now if today. Hang in there people!
I know this is brutal, another day can seem like an eternity. Keep busy and hopefully most students are in ignorant bliss of their impending arrival (or not). Parents are wishing they never found CC at this point - not sure if it is helping or hurting. Whether getting a package or not, even with all the reward getting one, I still find this the most agonizing of processes. Unfortunately for most, this mail waiting game will be repeated in March, ugh! Been through this 4 times, but the first time prob doesn’t count (athlete).
The best we had was a week after my D applied to U of O on Sept 4th, we went online to see if everything was in order and it said, Status: Accepted. This was September 11th. We were like, what??? Is that real? It was, and it was so nice to have an answer so darn early. They are on it up there btw. U Toronto was also very quick, I think she heard in October. Then there’s the usual December notifications, nice to know before Christmas. Cal Poly sent and adorable welcome video exactly when they said you could expect it. We all like certainty of delivery, this can make you absolutely nuts.
Actually the best notification we had was my recruited athlete that committed the summer after junior year to USC. Zero stress except for the 15 years of raising an athlete till then, ha.
Oh, it is sweet when it is over and done. Then you can start buying sweatshirts. It will come.
Wait, we have to wait for an acceptance to buy sweatshirts? Wish I knew that, could have saved about $300.
I see people mentioning midyear reports. Were we expected to send them in for USC if we applied for scholarship? My semester just ended today, so grades won’t be finalized until the end of the week.
Post o’ the day @kcheves!
lol, makes us all reflect on the stupid sweatshirts we own from the visit to xyz school.
Needed a good chuckle on here to break that thick tension!!!
@CADREAMIN Your posts have been extremely helpful! I keep my son in dark. Plus he doesn’t live with us so there is no point at all. If we got a package tomorrow, I would have to text him and see if it’s ok to open it. His usual response (delayed for hours) would be ‘sure, probably nothing’… Have to take sleeping pill again tonight Ugh!
Lucky son and thanks! I just wish they went out last Friday or on Monday like they have the last several years. They are changing it up. Torture for sure.
Haha the past few days have definitely been filled with unhealthy stalking of CC. Hoping for the best this week from USC but good luck to everyone! If they were sent out today then first arrivals are tomorrow. Remember it may seem like everyone is getting the package on CC but again only 3% of the applicants receive notifications and it is really unpredictable!
would PA residents receive letters tomorrow as well if they were sent out yesterday, or would it probably take another day to get to the east coast?
No, it would be the next day.
@CADREAMIN So San Diego will hear on Thursday if letters are sent today?
last year they went out on a Monday…I believe my daughter heard the next day in SoCal.
yep, they went out Monday last year and we received on a Tuesday in socal. Yay! So excited for everyone who starts to get something soon…hopefully tomorrow.
@ChenXiaoYun May I ask if your daughter is doing only music major or double majors? I am not quite sure what we should expect since my son is applying through RHP as a high school junior and he’s applying both Viola Performance through Thornton and Computer Science. He did get invitation email for live audition but we chose the February audition time. His SAT is 1560 and his PSAT is 1500.
can a transfer student receive some type of merit scholarship?
So do we not know if they shipped yet? hopefully it comes before the weekend
Good luck to those waiting for good news starting today and through Friday. Just keep in mind that around 89% of those admitted to USC annually are actually admitted in March, not January. So the absence of a merit offering this week is not a rejection. It simply means that you were not among the 3% or so of the 30K+ who applied by Dec 1st to be singled out for merit offerings. If you are among the fortunate 800-1200 this week, congrats and fight on!
@“WVOR357$” A number of somewhat-reliable USC sources have said the boxes were to be shipped on Tues–yesterday. We should know for sure pretty soon, if any SoCal posters report finding Happy Boxes in their mail today. :D/
Thank you! Hopefully they show up pretty soon! I am in Oregon so hopefully something happens soon! @ShrimpBurrito
