Trustee is just the first two sets of dates.
My son got Presidential so that must be it.
Makes sense, thanks @vhsdad.
@UmaSridhar I am from india too. My counselor at school has stated that we will get the boxes but sometimes the portal will be updated before we get the box. For Example last year we recieved the box before a protal update whereas the year before that we got the portal update before the box. All the best for you D!
@ChenXiaoYun thanks for your reply. That’s what I thought. We don’t expect to get more scholarships from Thornton if admitted since he wants to do Computer Science too and it’s not fair for Thornton to pay for his academic major. All admitted RHP students would get dean’s scholarships and if you find out you are a NMF in your freshman year at USC, then you will start getting presidential scholarships beginning from your sophomore year. My son will probably be NMF next year so we are willing to pay half tuition as long as he can get into Computer Science.
@Tennisboy2022 thanks and all the best for you too. I am not hoping anything as we are in the spree of receiving rejections… with 34(35 superscore)and 2390 in sub sats we are yet to see an acceptance.
Same question as SOoverthis but for Marshall business school- my son’s first choice
Does USC Admissions determine if he’s qualified for admissions and then send his application to Marshall or is it reviewed for Marshall as his first choice major initially? Can he be accepted to USC and not Marshall?
This is my first time going through the college application process as a parent, and I have been diligently reading these posts without my son knowing how much I am obsessing… everyone’s help is soooo greatly appreciated.
Will they send a letter to say we aren’t being considered for scholarship? Or are they only sending the white boxes?
Anyone know what time friday portals should be updated? has anyone called admissions to confirm?
Earlier in the thread, it was posted that the first Explore USC Day begins around 5pm or 5:30pm with matching up with host students, but another posted that the schedule that is up on the USC website for Explore USC is for students who may be interested in volunteering to host a merit scholar student, and that the activities on the first day actually may begin earlier, maybe around noon? I suppose those could be optional?
I also recall reading, maybe on the 2021 thread that a student may have an opportunity to sit in on a class? I would assume if that is the case that it would be on that first day?
Thank you! @pnwfam
Should people in Bronx, New York receive the magical white box today or tomorrow?
Has anyone heard from Thornton yet? I heard that academically qualified musicians are sent an email in January saying they are being considered for scholarships (but are not yet accepted).
I signed up for informed delievery yesterday and today it showed a past delivery this week from Amazon, but it also shows a package sent on 1/22 from UNITED SHIPPING SOLUTIONS
CANOGA PARK ,CA? Not sure if I should get excited because my husband is in tech and packages from CA are not unusual. Anyone else have a package that was from this company?
do all students who receive interview invitation get some kind of scholarship? OR They send more invitations than the number of awards exists? Example, for 100 Presidential Awards they invite 150 students? Sorry if this question was already asked in this series
We received The White Box yesterday and it did not show at all on USPS informed delivery
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if students don’t receive a box today, they can simply check their portals sometime around midnight tonight to find out if they’ve received admissions/merit aid . . .
Well, husband just texted that he thinks it is ink cartridges he ordered, sigh. @vhsdad yes, other posters said you may be able to see the portal changes after midnight, but it can take several hours so just check it in the morning. The updates may not be done by midnight.
@sooverthis @gobluealum To be admitted with a merit offering this week, you would in essence need to be admitted twice… 1) to your first choice major and 2) to the university overall. This applies to the creative and performing arts majors as well. So it does seem like a greater challenge to gain a merit offering to the arts schools within USC. From posts last year, it seems, for example, that only 20 were admitted during January to the School of Cinematic Arts… out of 1200 overall.
@doglover760 By Friday, you will receive an emailed letter either way. And that same letter will be posted to your admissions portal. If not moving forward in the merit process, that is the only notice you will receive.
@cc4help If you go to this link below and review the original post on page 1, it explains all that most will ever likely wish to know about this week and the merit process / offerings…
@vhsdad Yes… by early tomorrow morning most likely. But you also can simply wait for the email. They will email letting you know that an update has been posted to the admissions portal. I.E. – you do not need to keep refreshing the portal while waiting. Also, it takes time to update 30K+, so they do not all update simultaneously.
Informed Delivery Digest does not work folks. USC does not enable tracking for it to show up there. The sender has to enable tracking. USC did NOT do that.
They have been doing this for years, they know how to get this done undetected - it’s part of the whole mojo for them.
