USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

you got this,@justanothersudent

^^^ email comes eventually…

Dear blah,

We have arrived at the end of our application review period, and I am sorry to say that we are unable to offer you a space in this year’s incoming class.

Please understand that our decision is in no way a statement about your ability to succeed in college, nor any kind of judgment of you as a person. Be proud of your accomplishments, and press on in your pursuit of higher education.

This year, admission to USC was more competitive than ever before. We could not accommodate an unprecedented number of outstanding candidates, including many students with pristine academic records, remarkable talent, strong character, enriching experiences and unique perspectives. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that none of us enjoys turning away exceptional students.

Numbers do not tell the whole story, but I hope you find the context helpful: We received about 66,000 applications for admission. To enroll a class of 3,000 first-year students, we offered admission to only 11 percent of those who applied, or roughly 7,000 students. Of those offered admission, most achieved nearly straight-A averages and presented standardized test scores at or above the 98th percentile.

Beyond grades and test scores, we considered many other factors presented in your application materials. Ours is a qualitative process, in which opinions are weighed with facts. Your application was carefully, respectfully and thoughtfully reviewed multiple times, by many individuals.

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions for more details about our review process, and for options to consider if you wish to attend USC in the future.

Thank you for considering USC. We all wish you all the best in your college plans.

Respectfully,

Kirk Brennan
Associate Dean
Director of Undergraduate Admission

in case anyone wants a full version of the letter.
Gl to you all!

@mystery2019 OMG CONGRATULATIONS! Also thank you so much for giving a glimpse of hope. I also didn’t receive any box and quickly assumed I was rejected. I will hope for the best

@a2001p I think it says that you can view your status update and then someone posted the full text of the rejection. I haven’t received an update yet, but this is what i saw earlier on the thread

@mystery2019 congratulations!!! did you receive your acceptance on the portal? didn’t receive a white box so i hope this happens to me too

can someone say what it looks like when ur portal is updated? does everything disappear

I got my white box earlier today and I just got an update without an email beforehand saying I have been accepted! Hope this helps.

I was rejected but my letter said something about the TTP. Can someone please explain what that is?

i’m about to go into a show and no portal update … so much for enjoying the show

@a2001p Portal update is highlighted in yellow below the letter everyone got. Everything is still there

Are rejections still rolling in along with acceptances now?

@AshleyD2 The TTP is the Trojan Transfer Plan. It’s basically as close as you can get to a guaranteed acceptance if you apply as a transfer, as long as you take the right courses at CC or another 4-year school.

It takes a couple hours to get out all the updates - sometimes longer. They have never just appeared all at once - this can go on from 2-6 or even 8 hours. Usually they get the acceptances up early then the rejections but it is both this year. You just have to wait for YOUR update.

I wish I could stop looking at this website it’s making me insane. But alas.

anyone in socal get a portal update yet?? seems like they’re getting released at different times based on location

it’s not by location. im in tx & havent gotten word.

Portal update for New England?

in south florida, no portal update yet. AH.

If someone from my school received a white box today but I got nothing, is it safe to assume I have been rejected?
