I think the east coast will recieve theirs on saturday? or monday?
@CADREAMIN ha, so they will save money if they give merit scholarship to students who are qualified to get aid. Smart! :))
East coast will probably receive it Friday or Saturday if they were shipped today
But in that case, the portal will be our first way of knowing on Friday (for east coast people)
are we notified by email when portals are updated, or do we just have to check?
You get an email when the portals update!
They may send email but if I remember email is sent much later than actual portal update.
does anyone have an estimate on when the portal update will be?
@CADREAMIN you think it also has something to do with High school representation? Our school always has someone end up at USC, as each year from my school, about 4/5 kids apply to USC and 1 always gets in, and they always receive a merit scholarship. Last year, the girl who got in didnāt apply for any aid but ultimately ending up getting half her tuition paid for.
Half tuition you are referring to is probably due to the student being a national merit finalist. All NMFs get 50% off tuition but get it after normal scholarships are issued.
@prouddad2020 yeah idk her whole story for sure but I know sheās mentioned she had to do interviews out there and was ultimately awarded half tuition, what do you mean by the NMF? Thatās when you are selected to interview on campus to compete with others right?
@Burrowsc NMF refers to National Merit Finalist
Hi @prouddad2020 Iām a NMF, or at least semifinalist rn. You said the NMF scholarships come after the merit ones? Do you know when those come out?
@een222 ahh, so you need to be a NMF and have USC as your top choice to be considered for the presidential scholarship, which is the half tuition one right?
Yes, but I believe you can also get a full tution one as well. Someone I know did
@TrustProcess arenāt the NMF people in the pool for Presidental, which comes out this week?
@TrustProcess yeah the trustee one, but what if you are in consideration for those scholarships and ultimately do not obtain it? Youāre still into USC right?
Possibly. To be honest with you Iām not entirely sure.
@TrustProcess Same as well, whereās @CADREAMIN when you need him ?
@Burrowsc Yes, anyone who receives an invitation to interview for a merit scholarship is granted acceptance, whether they are given the scholarship in the end or not.
