@AshurbanipalV thanks
@CADREAMIN Sorry if I missed any posts, but were Deanās announced yet? Thanks!
For all those who were accepted, congratulations, your hard work paid off!
For those who worked equally hard and didnāt get into USC or their other school of their ādreamsā, this college application process is crazy and random and doesnāt always make sense or seem fair but keep doing great things and you will be just fine wherever you go. There was a good article in the WSJ this weekend that pointed out that what you do in college matters much more than where you go. They site a study that found no correlation between college selectivity and future job satisfaction or well-being. Soā¦ donāt fret too much over the highly selective schools where you didnāt get in and instead focus on doing your best at the college you attend and you will go places. My DS was denied USC but he was offered the TPP. He is a legacy so he may look into that so he has an option if things donāt work out at the college he chooses. Luckily he has several good schools to choose from. They arenāt his top choices which is disappointing but Iām sure he will be just fine no matter where he goes. For all the others who also didnāt make the cut, Iām sure you will do great wherever you end up!
@collegemom111111 repost just one person posted a Deanās. I would expect more to come.
Hi, Iām new to CC and I know so little about USC. Through this threads, I saw you did so much to help the Students and parents here. I want to express my sincere appreciation to you. We live in east coast. My daughter is graduating from UCLA this year. She likes California so much and she persuaded her brother to apply some colleges in CA. Here we go, Son was accepted by USC. Weāre so happy and excited! Since he submitted the application after Dec 1, he missed the opportunity to apply for scholarship. USC is quite expensive, weāre wondering if we can do anything to get any kind of help. Thank you so much in advance for any input from you or other folks here!
Did anyone else get bumped from their school of choice to āundecidedā admit? We are still trying to figure out what that means for possible limitations on choice of major.
S was accepted but still no white box - East Coast
Just found this forum after son received admission offer on Saturday to B. Arch program. Yesterday found out he is Presidential Scholar. He is super excited, as are we. No other connection to USC but happy to join the Trojan family. Congratulations to all, and thanks to those who take time posting such helpful information for the benefit of others. Fight On!
@lucy6688 Other than applying for financial aid and seeing how that goes, the options to apply for any additional scholarship opportunities are rather limited now unfortunatelyā¦ as most deadlines have passed I believe.
@Momofseveral10 Internally transferring into a school and major program is much easier as a current USC student than applying as a freshman applicant, and many switch programs once there. My younger daughter went through such in 2017ā¦ and actually internally transferred successfully by October of her freshman yearā¦ being able to start in SCA by the spring.
I guess the problem is, taking SCA as a hypothetical: āeasierā is not necessarily reassuring. If the SCA acceptance rate is 2%, an internal acceptance rate of say 12% is much easier, but it is not reassuring by any stretch, if it is more likely than not that my child will not gain acceptance.
@Momofseveral10 I can only go by personal experience and the numerous examples posted online over the years of individuals succeeding with their goal of internally transferring into SCA. I do not recall anyone posting about not being able to do so eventuallyā¦ but that is of course not definitive. And it also likely depends on the individual major being sought. But there have been numerous examples of people being successful with such. Some programs even let you try immediately and once per semester. Others only once a year. But I do understand your dilemma. But they do at east seem to bend over backwards to assist current USC students with their goals once they are already Trojansā¦
@Momofseveral10, @WWWard is correct that they do bend over backwards to help assist those switch into a major. I just got accepted as a freshman this week, and inquired already about switching to the MAP major in SCA. Immediately they guided me on what to do and discuss with my academic advisor to make that possible for next year. SCA even sent me the course list I would need, and the classes I can start taking beginning next year to make the switch easier for the spring. They obviously are not opposed to those wanting to transfer into SCA, so donāt be dissuaded!!!
emarie19, how did you manage to get in touch with someone? We have not been able to get a response from anyone yet. Who did you contact?
@Momofseveral10 call the student ambassador admissions office, tell them which specific major in SCA youāre trying to switch into, and they should give you the number of the academic supervisor of that major. I then called the academic supervisor of the major and she gladly informed me on how to go about this. This is process I went through, it could be different for you! ?
What is āstudent ambassador admissions officeā? I only have the general admissions number ā is it different?

If you want to request a roommate, do you have to put that in when you fill out your housing form?
@WWWard @emarie Nice effort, but they applied to Viterbi. It is easy to reach someone there or in admissions, albeit certainly some hold time involved this week for sure.
^^^ well thenā¦ nevermind
Admissions answers, but just puts me through to a voice box. So I canāt say that I agree that it is easy to reach anyone. I understand that everyone is busy, but I think the acceptance letter should have come with some guidance given the unexpected result. My child doesnāt have a āschoolā to contact at this point.
