Does anyone know when merit decisions for those who applied before Dec. 1st will come out?
My two daughters had relatively high stats in terms of GPA and test scores, but neither received merit scholarships. Only about 3% of the applicants who apply by the December 1st deadline receive such, and they are also divided up by USCās various Schools/Departments. But they were both eventually admitted in March (and yes - it is a long wait until then), received sufficient financial aid offerings and enrolled.
I believe that the #s last year were circa 1,200 admitted in January during the merit scholarship phase and another 7,139 or so were admitted in March. 8,339 out of the 64,352 total applicants were admittedā¦ or 12.95%. They had a higher than expected yield rate of 40.8%, leading to a larger than expected freshman class of 3,401. They always aim for 3,000. So, last year, 14% or so of those admitted got in during January and 86% or so got in during March. Part of the differential was a much larger yield rate it seems among those who received merit scholarshipsā¦ 791 of the 3401 in the freshman class having received some form of USC merit scholarship. And another 265 were national merit scholars. Stillā¦ the vast majority of current and former USC students got in during Marchā¦ nearly 90%.
You can view all of last yearās stats related to admissions hereā¦

Does anyone know if merit packages in Jan. will be geared more towards OOS? heard IS has more applicants and thus would be more competitive
2018-2019 Entering Class
Applicants:
From schools in California 42%
From schools outside CA, but in U.S. 44%
Admits:
From schools in California 39%
From schools outside CA, but in U.S. 44%
Enroll:
From schools in California 41%
From schools outside CA, but in U.S. 44%
Merit is geared more to the right applicant than anything else which is determined by application, stats, demographics and needs of each individual school and USC overall.
Looking at that Class of 2022 profile, I saw that only 1% of the class was in Keck School of Medicine (what I applied for). Do yāall think this would help my chances of admission/scholarship selection if I have the stats?
^^^You can spin in any way you want, but it just means less spots not more chances. What matters is how many applied and their stats/application which is impossible to know.
You can guarantee a transfer if your grades are not too bad. My nephew was guaranteed one two years ago but he didnāt bother.
im so nervous omg
Hey! this is a long shot, but Iām searching for another undergraduate applicant for the School of Dramatic Arts stage management program - would love if someone would reach out if that applied to them.
im confused lol is something coming out pretty soon?
Merit decisions likely in the next week.
Hey guys, I am from Vancouver, Canada and I will be visiting USC next Friday for a campus tour. I have been to USC before but didnāt go on a campus tour. I absolutely love USC and it is my number 1 college on the list. I surely will send them a love letter after my visit, but is there anything I can do on campus to increase my chances? (maybe like asking a lot of questions during the tour, or talking to an admission officer)
Best of luck to everyone for the scholarship decisions!
Yes , you should put them on your ca
yea it depends on when you applied I guess
As a side note, I am sure the magic of playing at (USCās) Memorial Coliseum is what brought the win for LA Rams tonight.
The Rams game was played at the Superdome in New Orleans not in LA
Gosh, I hope I knew that!
I was implying through the regular season, that the Coliseum being their temporary home brought them magical powers today. Itās a stretch, but also wasnāt sure if many realized they are playing where USC does till new digs are done.
did anyone get any emails yet from USC ??
@drag0n21 I got an email to set up my portal
