I'm applying to USC this year and have realized that the scholarship deadline is in December. Does this mean that if I want to apply for scholarships, my entire application must be in by this date?

help?

ya, part 1 and part 2 must be completed by the December deadline for scholarship consideration.

also...wondering what's the pros of filling out part 1 besides the ones stated on the application (show interest, waive partial fees of 2nd part, etc.)

Wait...isn't Part 1 MANDATORY?!

^ no. I didn't fill it out because i didn't know about its existance actually haha.

aww man...hopefully filling out part 1 helped me get in, or else THAT was a waste of time.

After you have completed your app by the deadline, you can always send in supplemental info (e.g. if you get awards, etc.) My S did parts 1 & 2 because it saved $$, but I don't believe you HAVE to.

yeah, you dont have to but it does make your application cheaper and then they start sending you info and start your file early (which is nice if you want to schedule an interview in the fall before the application is in). Part 1 is really simple anyways, its just your contact info and stuff so if you know you're going to apply, you might as well fill it out.

They also send you bar-coded stickers to put on anything relating to your app, including correspondence, so they have an easier time being sure it gets in your file instead of getting lost in the huge number of apps & docs they receive. We were very careful to ALWAYS use those bar-coded stickers.

I agree that if you can possibly get an interview, it can be a great opportunity. My S did interview with the associate dean of engineering when she was at his HS & they got along great!
