usc difficulty

would it be safe to say premed at usc is easier than premed at ucla? and also is it easy at usc to enroll in the classes you want? I dont want to end up being waitlisted in every preferred class and not being able to ever enroll in... usc shows no statistics of how many people go on to graduate school like medical or dentistry so i really dont know where to go.. ucla or usc...

(i know its a little late in the process to be considering, but i am currently enrolled at ucla but usc said i can still enroll if i want so yea...)

if you're planning to go to UCLA med school, know that the admissions people flat out told me that they don't like to take their own for med school. same for UCs across the board. I had to choose between UCLA and USC for pre med too, and I chose USC in what became a very easy decision after I visited both schools. UCLA=overcrowded, no personalized attention, students are just a number. USC=waayyy smaller classes (especially in the programs I'm in-Thematic Option and Freshman Science Honors), much more personalized attention; they care about you and your future career (amazing alumni network). Of course, there are variations with these assertions. This is just what i observed after sitting in different classes at both schools. You have to go where you can picture yourself. In most classes at USC, you can probably get in (depends with GEs). At UCLA, you'll be in a class with over 300 students, spilling out in the hallway, with the students and professor unengaged (at least from what I saw). For me, everything went wrong at UCLA, but everything went right at USC. btw, I have a neighbor friend who went premed at USC majoring in Neuroscience and went to UCSD for med school. he then was immediately offered a job teaching at UCSD catered to fit his family schedule, since he was married.

woow... thank you. that was very deep. but is it too late to get in the thematic option and freshman science honors program right now? and if your not in the thematic and freshman science honors program, can you still be in small classes??

depending on your SAT scores, you may still be able to get in, or on the wait list, but I would call them to make sure. If not, then your GEs may be larger. I'm not completely sure about the class sizes, because they vary so much, but I'm almost positive that they're not as large as UCLA's. I've heard from a lot of people from USC that the GE's are not bad. Good luck! I hope you choose USC, but go where the learning environment best suits your interests. :)

I've seen plenty of med people change majors here because of the difficulty of science classes (Biology seems to weed out people) so I think its hard everywhere...

BISC220 definitely weeds people out, so I'm sure Med is hard anywhere as the poster above said
