hey guys, I'm working on my usc app and one of the short questions is :

Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC.

I know this sounds really stupid...but what does that mean?! Do they want me to talk about my major? Or what activities I would participate in? I think I'm reading too much into it and it's making it confusing for me..

I wrote about the specific program that USC has and why i wanted to join. I also talked about how I started why I began liking my major and the clases in my major. You can talk about work experience if it relates to your academic pursuits.

haha don't worry about it. I'm practically done with my essays except the Why USC? one. It's driving me nuts - i know what i want to write but i can't seem to write it down in coherent sentences. I want to get it over with already!!!

that question is such bs...we all know they just want you to suck up lol jk...

but yah just explain how the school would fit for your personal education (ie. who you are, what you want to study, the resources they provide)... I don't know if that helps??

Just a reminder: It is due on FEB 1 !
Awww... I have finished it already, it is tiring and tedious somehow ... I like the UCs application better since it has fewer writtings ahahhahaa

haha yeah i know what i want to talk about but like i said putting it into a good, eloquent essay is the problem i have right now! i'm already done with my other essays (edited, re-edited etc) and already finished most of the online app... its just this is putitng me down. And yeah, i agree this is a stupid topic. I think they want you to write why USC is so good instead of why you want to go to USC lol.

You know... may be you can borrow some ideas from their official website... they have put 10 reasons why USC is such a good school but then they ask us why do you wanna transfer to USC... it is kind of funny; it is like they are testing you if you have read their top 10 reasons about choosing USC for your education.

I am almost done too..but im COMPLETELY DYING on the first short paragraph...Focus on one activity or accomplishment that is the most important to you and discuss what you have learned from this experience...

haha, thanks for the tip - i'll check it out and probably add it to my essay. A questions for you guys, if you were accepted to UCLA and USC which one would you attend (assuming the costs were about the same). Right now, i have no clue but i'm in no danger of getting accepted to UCLA so that shouldn't be a problem lol.

oh boy... that was tough for me too but you know, just calm down for 10 seconds and focus on one most interesting activity and then jot it down without worrying about writting, just the idea first and then decorate the writting later when you have the idea... good luck!

man.. hobo... that is a great question: i'm asking myself that question too. It is so hard to decide, if they both accept me, i don't want to reject either one of them :) may be toss the coin up and let it decide for you?

haha.. i think most of the ucla vs usc is just played up. My friend and mentor who recently graduated from ucla said that the business program at usc was really good and in some ways better than biz-econ at ucla. I seriously don't know which one i'd pick either. ucla has always been my dream school... decisions decisions...

anyways i think either school is great so whatever you pick, you'll be getting an awesome education and great experience.

i'm kinda leaning towards usc right now because of their alumni base in so.cal is really great and their mentor system. I love the school spirit but ucla has that as well and the sports are great too.

a bit - but right now usc is looking better and better. I doubt ill get into ucla anyways but here's to hoping. If i am confronted with the choice i guess money will be the deciding factor.

yeah, usc isn't in that great of a place. However, almost everyone lives on campus and you rarely have to go out. So, i guess it shouldn't make a difference.
